Where in Georgia are yall?
I know that we have a large group from the Atlanta/North Georgia area, but where else is everybody?

I'm down on the coast in Savannah.

1. Dumber-than-a-bag-'o-rocks Gwinnett
where our last county commissioner once claimed that "Growth is duh engine what drives our county!"

They apparently don't believe in having a Plan B in case, you know, the "growth" were ever to stop.

Not all are stupid. 90 thousand actually voted for Kerry in the last election, although you'd never know it to read our Gwinnett Daily Post, wherein their idea of a "liberal columnist" is David Fucking Broder.

I've seen Nate's picture, and it seems like he is getting more than his fair share of fast food, despite the language barrier.

Besides being a piece of shite, the GDP has rotten service, and is not fit to line a birdcage.

16. oy, it's horrible.
No discussion of the GDP's (literally) local yokels can be complete without mentioning the magnificent stupidity that is Darrell Huckabee and Dick Yarborough. It's hard to get through a single paragraph from either of these columnists without wincing.

28. I wonder how often these daily rags get any flack from publishing these hacks?
I really do wonder, sometimes, if a dick like Dick continues to draw his (surely meagre) columnist fee simply because nobody really complains.

Sometimes when I read a hoary old rag like the Gwinnett Daily Post I almost feel like it's shooting fish in a barrel to criticize their crappy little editorial page; I figure the paper can't be doing all that well financially and it's probably going to collapse in a heap soon anyway.

then a dick like Dick calls you and me "liberal weenies" and I want to punch the mofo in the kisser...

4. Barrow County, just east of Gwinnett
We moved here for a job in Gwinnett County and didn't want a long commute. It was after we were here that I learned that Barrow was the county that was sued to remove the Ten Commandments from the court house. I haven't read the Gwinnett paper but it can't be worse than the Barrow News. We have a free 6 month subscription that I don't bother looking at anymore.

I'm glad to know that there are a few DU'ers in this neck of the woods. I'd love to meet; it gets lonely out here.

It's easier than driving to Atlanta (although I've done that too because our great Atlanta area DUers are over there!) XanaDUer and her SO, MGKrebs & Caspar (from Atlanta) and I and several other DUers all met up in Athens a while back.

23. Hey there!
The Edwards event was great! The room was full. And Edwards nearly tripped over Carter when he was leaving. He had to reach down to stop Carter from falling over (Edwards turned around really quickly and came dashing through a spot where Carter and another little girl about his age were playing off to the side). He just reached down and put his hand on Carter's head to stop him from falling down - just like any father would. :)

I had not seen this earlier, so decided I would update anyway. We moved to Newnan from Clayton County a year ago, and it is genuinely an example of going from blue to red in one easy lesson.

I am assured there are local Democratic candidates to run against Westmoreland but nobody knows much (or they aren't saying because the Republicans control everything). We even have two Republicans running against each other to be the county Coroner!

Anyway I came to the Georgia forum to find somewhere to bitch about Vernon Jones and I am going to go to the Senate campaign update post and follow up there.

Sincerely hope we make some progress in Georgia this year. (by the way, Jones would not, in my opinion, be "progress".)

57. Live in Avondale Estates, work at Emory
Couldn't afford Decatur when we were buying our house 13 yrs ago.

Can't afford it or nearer Emory now because kiddo just started at Paideia.

Bet I'm not the only one working at Emory...

My Uncle lives in Athens, but used to live in Lawrenceville.

Haven't posted in a while, but trying to get back into things for the general election.

I just donated to Stephen Camp's campaign, even though I'm not in his district and I'm financially strapped due to recent unemployment.
I donated just now 'cause Mr. Camp's opponent, incumbent Rethuglican idiot Lynn Westmoreland referred to Obama as "uppity." What a moran.
Thanks for the Stephen Camp link, RubyDuby in GA.
Edited to add Mr. Camp's link for the 3rd District: http://www.stephencampforcongress.com /
