McGraw - GA 03
I have recently relocated to this part of the state. McGraw is running against Lynn Westmoreland (R), incumbent. We moved from a strongly Democratic area so this is a real change for me and I don't know any of the people here.

He is a Democrat with the campaign slogan "Had Enough" - obviously looks better than Westmoreland to me. But I haven't seen any info on him here or other sites. Anyone familiar with him? Any info would help!

1. This, from his website, gives me pause:
"A man of basically conservative views, Mike is a new Democrat."

I like my Dems dyed in the wool...old school. I will tell you that it is a really conservative district (scary I know - I have Mr. Fair Tax John Linder himself as my rep. Got redistricted out of DINO David Scott's district). My husband used to live in this district and worked really hard for a guy who ran in 2004. This guy listened to the state party's operatives who told him to basically run on Rep Lite mode to try to get votes. I guess they're still giving out the same advice.

Here's his website for you: http://www.mikemcgrawforcongress.com/

2. Thanks.
Same here, basically. I just left David Scott's district and he is truly DINO. Can't bring myself to vote for Westmoreland under any circumstances. Read what I could and call McGraw with a couple of questions. One thing I liked about him is that he answered my questions directly without playing around trying to figure out what I might have wanted him to say. I do appreciate that kind of straight-forward answer!

Up to this election, I have tried to support Democrats of any form because the republican alternative is just too awful. But it doesn't help if they go to Washington and vote with the Republicans all the time anyway. So whatever.

Will vote for him as less awful than Westmoreland. Guess he might not be any better but he sure couldn't be any worse! Maybe that is the best we can hope for in Georgia for the immediate future.

3. Yes, we've got a lot of holding our noses and voting to do
but I'm getting really tired of doing that. I wish we could have a candidate that we could all truly believe in just for once.

4. I used to live in that district
back when I still lived in Georgia. I now vote absentee but discovered this time around that somehow I've gone from being in Westmoreland's district to being in Jim Marshall's - a Democrat (one of the rare times in my life that I've been grateful for gerrymandering) despite my voting address being the same as it always was. After telling umpteen people that my Congressman was the asshat who couldn't name more than a couple of the Ten Commandments when he was on The Daily Show, I find that now I have a Democratic Representative.

Bizarre, but I'm happy to know that I'm now in a Democratic Congressional district.

I looked at McGraw's website. Damn, he needs to lose the music and voiceover - don't you hate getting bombarded when you go to a site? Having said that, though, McGraw's got to be better than Westmoreland.

5. I talked to someone who lives there.
This McGraw fellow used to be a Republican until this April. Switched so he could run against Westmoreland.

Turst him about as far as you can throw him...
