CSPAN will be airing McKinney-Johnson debates live tomorrow 7:30!!
Having met Congresswoman McKinney at the Atlanta premiere of the film about her, "Atlanta Blackout," and seen her speak many other times, I have to say:

I wholeheartedly support her. The non-incident with the police officer doesn't change my opinion of her. She's a brave fighter. She was the first to suggest Bush knew of the 9/11 attacks beforehand and press for an inquiry (which turned out to be true, but it was used by the Major Media to slander her as a conspiracy nut in 2002). She has sponsored legislation to end wars and occupations that we have our hand in all over the world. She is an outspoken, rebellious fighter in the vein of the Civil Rights movement (and no wonder the old guard of the civil rights movement in Atlanta have all come out and supported her).

Right after the 2000 elections, she and Congressman Lewis probed the Georgia-based Choicepoint corporation and found massive fraud and coverups. The only known-recording of that investigation has been placed in the film American Blackout. Local stations also covered the proceedings -- but never showed their footage.

She hammered the Defense Department on using companies that used sex slaves and child labor. She has probed the deaths of Martin (along with Senator Kerry) and Tupac Amaru Shakur.

She has her fair share of personal mishaps (which of course the media will go after much more viciously than it does actual RELEVANT achievements of hers), but they don't replace the fact that she is one of the most powerful rebels Congress has ever seen -- and for those who watch what she does, those people have learned a lot about the sinister lies that prop up our government.

She is a powerful figure, a powerful Congresswoman, and I give her my full support and will watch the debate hoping she will perform as well as she fights in Congress.

2. I'll be watching
Anybody who doesn't have C-Span via cable can watch it online here:

I second your comments about Cynthia McKinney. She is a tireless fighter with a great track record of standing up for core Democratic issues.

3. It should be said genuine Democratic issues, not Georgia Democratic ones
It's no surprise the major Democrats of the Georgia Party except for John Lewis are against her; they're very conservative Democrats whose idea of an opposition party is to say "Yes, sir; No, sir" to the Republicans.

4. Sad but true.
In the Southland, most Democrats are just Republican Lite.

5. Although it should also be said
that the old guard of the Civil Rights movement have all come out enthusiastically for her, with Young being the latest addition. I should hope that can help counter the fact that major money and media are strongly against her.

10. McKinney won. Hank can work for Bush when he loses the race.
But everyone vote. The Democrats need to to help McKinney against Johnson and his Republican supporters.

11. Congressman Johnson
It is next to impossible for an incumbent to lose an election, but McKinney has now accomplished that feat twice. It is probably her best accomplishment as far as the voters of the district are concerned. Her conspiracy dominated world view thru a wild eyed, wide capped-tooth lunatic's smile, helped attract other like minded victims of the system. She liked to say she spoke truth to power, (as if others lie to power?), but in the end, the power spoke truth to her, as she was revealed to be a pompous and delusional individual, brought down by too much of her self important ego, too important to be polite to the people that were trying to protect her, too powerful to have to comply with a police officers request to show identification. So now she's unemployed. I'm guessing that she'll find a way to get back on public aid, meaning the government's payroll before too long..:toast:
