DELTONA -- A soldier from Volusia County has died of swine flu, the Army said Thursday.

An autopsy showed Spc. Christopher Hogg, 23, of Deltona, died from pneumonia caused by the H1N1 flu virus while at Fort Jackson, in South Carolina.

Fort Jackson officials said Thursday Hogg’s death is the first such death at the Army’s largest basic training site.

Pentagon officials said they were trying to confirm details of the case.

-------------------------------

He died on 9/10, a week after getting ill. Nearly a 1/2% of the soldiers had swine flu symptoms.
