Anybody know why Rell is blowing off Hu Jintao of China?
Top world leaders coming to the state doesn't exactly happen every day... but, Rell now claims she is busy & can't meet with Hu Jintao of China. That's a slap in the face to a country that is very big on that sort of thing... and, with two of Connecticut's biggest corporations (GE & UTC) doing extensive business with China, it doesn't exactly look good, either.

1. Ugh, Rell makes me :puke:
I agree that it looks horrible since not too many world leaders come to visit the Constitution State. I haven't read about this so thanks for the update. :)

Wasn't she "busy" during the whole governor meet-up in Washington?

:puke:!!!

2. If I recall
She claimed she was abiding by the state travel ban that she had imposed to save money. However, in that case, networking with other governors can be profitable in both the short & long term.

Of course, when Rell imposed a hiring freeze a while back, it didn't stop her from hiring 3 cronies into cushy state jobs while the freeze was on...

Colin McEnroe was kind of surprised that Rell wasn't meeting with Hu, which is where I got the information from.

3. I heard on the radio that Hu was going to be visiting Yale on Friday
Which I didn't know. Did I hear wrong?

Not surprising about Rell. She could have scooted down there if she wanted too.

5. Oh come on!
She lives in Brookfield -- it's about a half hour from New Haven.

6. McEnroe was mocking her again on that
said something about how she just had to meet with some girl scouts... with poor jobs creation such an issue in the state, you'd think she'd want to meet with him.
