Blue Back Square, West Hartford
Anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm opposed to it, I think it's too big. A huge parking garage and a six story patient care hospital-like building?

1. more details, please?
Where in West Hartford? West Hartford Ctr is very nice, and for a wealthy town it is pretty reliably Democratic.

2. West Hartford Center
What started as a redevelopment of Raymond Road has become a total upheval of the center. The Town Hall will be expanded and have a SIX STORY PARKING GARAGE built there, along with a six story high hospital care facility.

3. damn
the town hall seems pretty nice the way it is now... I can see the need for a little more parking in WHC, but a 6 story garage would stand out like a sore thumb, unless I'm completely missing something?

4. Grew up in West Hartford
And boy the Center has changed since I was a teenager in the 80s! People actually go there now. :)

West Hartford does have a lot of wealthy people, but they're definitely Dems -- including my parents, who still live there and are good lefties. I think the sizeable Jewish population helps skew it left.

It sounds like it would be a huge project, though I think it would be New Urbanist in style from what I've read -- much like Mashpee Commons out here on the Cape, with walkways and storefronts and stuff. It could be really nice, or it could be awful. The thing is, West Hartford ain't exactly a rural suburb -- it's pretty urban.

My main concern is that there would be nowhere for my favorite greasy pizza place (West Side Pizza) to go. :)

I also hate the name -- and that's coming from someone who used to work at the Noah Webster House!

My sister used to work there - in the 1990's.
