U.S. Senate: Miles vs. Salazar; Coors vs. Schaffer
U.S. Senate: Miles vs. Salazar; Coors vs. Schaffer

The race to replace outgoing Republican Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell has garnered the most attention. And justifiably so.

Republicans control the Senate by a mere three seats, so many political observers anticipate the Colorado seat could help tip the balance of power.

Vying for the hearts and minds of the Democratic Party are Ken Salazar and Mike Miles. Salazar remains favored by many voters who see the state attorney general as the pragmatic choice, the candidate who gives the party its best chance in the November general election.

Miles, meanwhile, has won the hearts, if not votes, of party loyalists swayed by the former foreign diplomat's record of achievement and left-lean on the issues.

3. Why don't you think Miles is "electable?"
How can we continue to bitch about sleazy politicians who are all essentially the same, not really caring about their constituents - then when we get someone new and actually a public servant, refuse to elect him?

4. are you implying that Ken Salazar is a "sleazy politician"?
That he doesn't care about his constituents?

Ken Salazar isn't a public servant?

5. Because....
1 - After two years of campaigning, he's still mpretty much unknown in Colorado.

2 - He's never held political office before. If Shaffer wins the GOP prinary, he'll use that fact to attack Miles (if he wins our primary). (That issue becomes moot if Coors wins their primary.)

3 - Ken Salazar has a proven track record for attracting crossover votes.
