Man punches child in the face- on the ski slope
EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. -- A 14-year-old girl in a ski school class was punched by a man after she bumped into his son on a beginner run, deputies said.

The girl was skiing on the Haymaker Trail when she said she swerved to avoid a skier who had fallen in front of her.

The girl bumped into a 4-year-old boy who was skiing with his father and both of the children fell.

The father of the 4-year-old boy jumped on top of the girl and hit her in the face with fist, deputies said. A ski instructor stopped the assault, officials with Beaver Creek said.

19. I worked for a major resort videotaping at accident scenes and
incident scenes for liability protection. To show safe conditions, unsafe skiers, intoxication, general conditions and witnesses. A lot of people drink and ski. Had a guy bang his head on a chair pole at 8:30 am on a sunday. His blood alcohol was .085, probably from the night before but plenty are drinking 24/7 on their ski trips.

Plenty of people screw themselves up but the worst are skier on skier incidents. Had a guy go into the cattle yard out of control and the skiers in the line slashed him with their poles. Fist fights, skis and poles thrown. Fortunately we stayed away from those.

People die skiing. Not uncommon.

17. Skied from the time I was 3 'til too disabled in my mid- 40's
And I lived in Vail for a year (ski bum for a year between HS and college). I've never seen anything like that. Had a jackass skiing out of control slam into me and give me a concussion and stitches...might have been tempted then if he hadn't knocked me out cold. :eyes:

" In this instance the man’s skiing privileges have been revoked indefinitely at all six of Vail Resorts’ mountains. In addition, the man has been banned from all Vail Resorts properties indefinitely."

7. So this guy thinks his child is seriously injured
but first punches a teenage girl in the face (while she's lying on the ground!) before checking on his son? What a jerk! I hope that girl's family sues the guy until HE feels seriously injured.

shapeless snowboarder-y clothing, helmets and goggles tend to blur the gender of the skier.

i have deliberately, and painfully, crashed to avoid n00bs who sverved into my path. 4 year olds? i stay a 100+ yards from them.

9. This is why I steer clear of the general public
the more people around, the more your chances of running into someone who is about to snap at any moment. The economic stress levels out there are extreme and at this point I quite frankly don't trust anyone I don't know.

I don't think this had anything to do with economic stresses.

And avoiding people because of fear seems quite extreme.

21. You never know
a lot of people are trying to live their old lifestyles when they no longer have the money to do it, by stringing out their credit... for all we know, the vacation $$ came from no longer paying an underwater mortgage, electing instead to wait to be foreclosed on. It's happening to a lot of people who don't outwardly look like they are on the edge of hard times.

20. Who the fuck takes a 4 year old skiing
I mean I could see it if the kid was 6 or 7 maybe, but 4. He is the one who put his son in danger of being seriously hurt, not the teenage girl. This guy lacks basic common sense.

23. well, they don't have a long way to fall down, and they don't go fast
mostly you put them in class. sometimes all day, sometimes just for the morning, get them at lunch, and ride the bunny slopes with them till closing.

most kids truly enjoy it.

24. My kid has been cross-country skiing since his 3rd birthday.
He loves it. More and more young kids are seen on the trails every year.

It's wonderful.
