Winning control of the state election machinery, as well as getting to make appointments to the state supreme court is too important, as the 2000 election debacle demonstrated.
I really don't think he is a serious menace to current abortion rights. As Roe, amended by Casey, stands this whole issue is a tempest in a teapot. The scary person is Alito, now he is a direct danger to Roe.
Since it cuts student loans and cuts funding for medicaid could this vote come back to haunt him? I'm thinking of how this might affect all those who are in nursing homes etc. How will the state pick up these cuts?
