Bush and #36

"Current map shows Bush can win without Ohio, Pennsylvania, or
Wisconsin. His winning combination: Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New
Mexico, and defeat or invalidation of the Colorado ballot measure on
splitting its electoral votes.
If he gets Wisconsin, he can afford to lose
New Hampshire and New Mexico, or one of those two states plus the
ballot measure. If he gets Ohio, Wisconsin, and the northern district of
Maine, he can afford to lose Florida and the ballot measure."

1. you're willing to change the State Constitution
for one election?

That's short sighted, and the worst reason for backing amendment 36, IMO.

There was a debate on 36 a few days ago - Channel 12. It was between two Democrats: Ron Tupa, who pretty much started this whole thing, arguing for the amendment, and Susan Barnes-Gelt, who until term limited, was arguably the most liberal member of the Denver City Council, arguing against it.

So, we have Ken Salazar against it, Susan Casey, Kerry's campaign manager against it (which means the Kerry campaign is against it), and Susan Barnes-Gelt, a tie-dyed in the wool liberal activist against it.

Think about it...

2. That's just silly.
I quoted one small piece from an article, which made a very strong point, so you start flinging assumptions around.

I've really had it with this shit. In another post I said that reasonable people can disagree.

But, you're right. I made the silly assumption that we're all in the same boat, trying to forge some alliances to reclaim our party, and work to get our country back. But so many of you would rather use explosive language, and accusations in order to "win".

I'm not your adversary.... I quoted a small piece.

You don't like what I quoted, so you want to make personal accusations. Have at it, because I'm really tired of this shit. It's why I backed away from the Dems in the first place. Go ahead and rip each other up. It no longer matters to me. That's the kind of rancoous world you want, you're welcome to it.

Oh, and by the way, Al Franken, as I said before, endorsed it.

So, rip away. But let's stop all pretense that we are in any way on the same team. I no longer wish to try to work side by side with those who can't respect others.

buhbye......

7. you know, this is a political discussion board
When you post on here, advocating a position, and especially when attempting to sway others to your POV, other members of this site are within their rights to disagree.

That you choose to charactorize that disagreement as a "personal accusation", "flinging assumptions", "rancorous", or "shit", reflects poorly on you, because, frankly, I have no idea where you got any of that from my post. When someone disagrees with you, flying off on some kind of victimhood jag is really not a very good way to get your point across.

8. taking leaps of fancy, ascribing postions to someone when they
haven't said that at all is not only silly, it's the fucking tactics of the goddam right wing.

I won't answer to that kind of crap, the same as I don't defend myself to RW shit.

You don't like it?

Respond to me as a person, don't read my posts, or put me on ignore.

But DO NOT EXPECT ME TO ACCEPT YOU TELLING ME THAT I MADE SOME LEAP THAT I NEVER MADE.

Fuck it.

I've seen more hatred on this forum from so-called Dems than I even hear from Republicans that I know. It's time to stop the fucking shit, and treat others like human beings if you want people to work for your goddamned candidates.

Many of us have had this shit up to here.

As I said, fuck it.

3. How long have you lived here?
My first election in Colorado was 76. Back then I couldn't believe the hate I saw in this state towards Carter. Of course, he supported all those "colored folk" so he wasn't too popular here...

You must live in a bubble because you obviously can't see the hold the Right Wing has on this state. I still remember the victory speech that Tancredo gave in 2002 when he declared.."the Democrats were finished...destroyed in this State". This is the true nature of the war here in Colorado. To keep Colorado from becoming a blood-red State....forever. I'm not voting for 36 for "this one election"... I want to pull the rug out from under on these assholes and take away some of their mojo.

A former friend of mine was once the head of the JeffCo repukes. Mrs. Motivated talked to him recently (I parted ways with this bastard before the "war") and he said that he didn't understand why Salazar was a Democrat. He considered him a Republican.

Think about it. On second thought....don't bother.

4. I've lived here for 24 years

for 21 of those years I was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. That means I lived and worked, often for weeks and months, anywhere UP/DRGW/SP track went.

East through Limon and southeast from there to the Kansas border. South through the Air Force Academy and into Pueblo. Northwest through the Moffat Tunnel and on into Granby, Steamboat, and Craig. West out I-70 all the way to Grand Junction. North up the old Cheyenne highway through Greeley and up to the Wyoming border. Northwest through Windsor, Johnstown, and Ft. Collins.

I lived and worked in every shitheel little town along those routes, and believe me, I understand, perhaps better than anyone else on this board, exactly how right wing Colorado can be.

I understand your frustration with "red" Colorado. I even understand your motivations for supporting amendment #36. I just don't agree with you. There are other factors that I find more important.

Colorado will never be a "liberal" blue state, but I do believe it can become a "blue" state. And considering what we're surrounded by (Kansas, Utah, Nebraska, Wyoming), I'm willing to settle for that.

6. I couldn't do what you did
I'm a stupid farm boy from Iowa. You haven't lived until you made hay by hand on hot humid day in Iowa. Or, so they told me. I had a friend in Iowa who was a union journeyman. He'd spend months in crappy motels. Couldn't do that kind of work.

21 years? The stories you must have.

Now isn't the time for division and I sincerely appreciate your understanding. I'm laying down my sword. Besides, anyone who is a Lovecraft fan (I'm assuming...your avatar?) is okay by me. :-)

I hope you can make it to the colorado DUer thing HawkeyeX is putting together for after the election.

Peace.

9. well, I have read most of Lovecraft over the years
(got to do something in all those crappy motels), but my avatar is actually the Hindu god Ganesh - the "remover of obstacles". He is also the god of education, knowledge, wisdom, and wealth.

Peace.

12. I have no decided if prop 36 ifs a good idea or not
BUT I am sure it is a bad idea for THIS election. Legal scolars say it will be challenged in SCOTUS. They don't belive you can grandfather a constitutional amendment. I am not giving Bushit any reason to challege anything...IMHO.

5. Ammendment 36 & the Courts.
Even if Ammendment 36 passed, it will go right to the courts.
This could invalidate all of Colorado's 9 electoral votes for a couple months.

It would make Colorado the topic of converstion for a few weeks.
