1. I love Titanium beer
Light but strong. I have several Triple Rock Titanium beer t-shirts.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll try to make it. I live in San Diego but go to the Bay Area at least a couple of times a year to visit friends.

2. Mr. kt and myself are going to try.
My parents live in the North Bay Area. We will do our very best to make it. Unless something comes up, see you there!

Ok, I'm going into teacher mode here. How about name tags so we can identify who is who? Not just "Hello, my name is..." but get creative with identifying yourself! What does that mean? Be creative and see where it takes you!

Ok, that might be voted down as a dumb idea, but I just thought I"d toss it out there!

29. How to take the train to the Pub
Take the Capitol Corridor train to Richmond, switch to a Berkeley bound BART (which is almost all I think) and get off in Downtown Berkely and follow the pubs instructions from there.

The train is a great way to go, scenery is beautiful, and it is such a pleasant way to travel. Bart runs so often that the biggest hassle will be picking which train to take back so print a schedule and bring it with you or have someone drop you off at the bottom of University for the train.

Wish I could go but I am too busy at the moment.

26. Our gatherings are usually not announced publicly.
I just realized that this thread is very different from what we usually do, which is announce a gathering and then once we agree on a date and time, a point person gives the location to known DU'ers.

Any thoughts on this?

I'll be back in CA three days before that. So if I can re-learn how to drive, get over my jet lag, and somehow convince the family that driving to Berkeley to have only one beer (since I'm a responsible driver) with liberals is a good use of my time. I sure as hell think it is, but I won't know until I get back. I'm crossing my fingers! :D

37. Here's some directions
Two ways

Take BART to Downtown Berkeley BART station
or
Take Amtrak to Berkeley, and then take AC Transit 51 to Downtown Berkeley BART Station

then

Walk north a couple of blocks, it's on the West side of the street

50. Re: Amtrak from Sacto
Okay boys and girls, it looks like we're either going to be really early, fashionably late or we're going to have to consider carpooling or some other option. Considering the cost of trains both ways ($34.50 total) and the not-precisely-convenient schedule, another option might not be a bad idea.

Here's the Amtrak schedule.
Departing 12:40p Arriving 2:05p $16.00
From: Sacramento (SAC)
at 12:40p * To: Richmond/BART (RIC)
at 2:05p Via Capitol Corridor (Westbound), Train 737
Indicates Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach
* Connecting motorcoaches for Trains 540, 542, 551, 751 and 742 may depart 5 minutes after train arrival.

Departing 2:10p Arriving 3:35p $16.00
From: Sacramento (SAC)
at 2:10p * To: Richmond/BART (RIC)
at 3:35p Via Capitol Corridor (Westbound), Train 741
* Connecting motorcoaches for Trains 540, 542, 551, 751 and 742 may depart 5 minutes after train arrival.

Departing 4:10p Arriving 5:33p $16.00
From: Sacramento (SAC)
at 4:10p * To: Richmond/BART (RIC)
at 5:33p Via Capitol Corridor (Westbound), Train 745
Indicates Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach
* Connecting motorcoaches for Trains 540, 542, 551, 751 and 742 may depart 5 minutes after train arrival.

I'm open to suggestions or comments on making amtrak work or finding an alternative means of transpo.

The deal is to take the train to Richmond and transfer there to BART. Don't go for Motorcoaches which I believe are buses.

Tip for out of towners........dress in layers. Because Berkeley's directly across from the mouth of the bay, it can go from 90 degree days to 55 degree nights, depending on whether the fog and wind chooses to creep in.

See you there!
