So, what's Ahnuld being groomed for?
I mean this doesn't happen by accident.

The press loved him in the recall.

Our "deadlocked" democrat controlled legislature is giving
him whatever he wants.

All his initiatives pass.

He's over in the Middle East now proving that he's not only
not a Nazi, but he's not even Austrian anymore, he's a good
American.

We had a trial balloon about amending the Constitution so he
can run for pResident (a most unlikely scenario IMHO, but who
can say these days.)

So what is up? Is this just for when he's up for re-election?
Maybe a Ahnuld for senator bid, say against Boxer later?

I'm puzzled. Any thoughts?

1. Senator? Groan!
I wouldn't be surprised. He's disgusting. Check out the article in the SF Gate on-line about his native country, but perhaps you have already. The Repubs have to groom someone everyone might like since all they have is old farts and has-beens. Lord help us if they change the consitution for the likes of him. After that Bobble-Head incident I know he's very vain and could care less about the people of California.

2. Ahhnoll will pull the play of the year....
He will not run a campaign, knowing that in a regular legit campaign he will not win. But, he will endorse his wife Maria to run for governor. You see, the Schrivers and the Kennedys have their own private rivalry. Maria Schriver envies all the Kennedy glory, which does not get and barely made it into a broadcasting job. Ahhnoll will use his influence to get what his wife wants; recognition and power as a Schriver. That is exactly why Maria turned republican; to get her power.

Ahhnoll may not even run for any political job. Why should he? After becoming governor of one of the richest state on earth, the world will be at his feet. Ahhnoll will go around the world making dirty deals with the buhes. Soon there will be an Ahhnold Schartznazi oil tank.

6. I see you get what I was aiming at.
My working hypothesis is Senator.
In any case, a state as large as California with a long
history of Republicanism cannot be allowed to stay
monochrome Democratic without a struggle. If nothing else
he may try to restore "balance" in the legislature.

4. like he always sez: ah'll be bahck!
UNbelievable! Would love to know the breakdown-percentages of how the various groups voted in Cauleefornia. Always thought they were a sophisticated lot. Anyone know?

5. Arnold is strongly positioned to run for a 2nd term as Gov
After that it's anybody's guess, but bear in mind, he's in his 60's now (I believe) so he'd be getting up there in age. One more term as Gov may be all he's up for.

8. The "setting him up for a second term" idea sounds promising.
It's worth noting that he got a rather modest plurality,
he will need to do a lot better next time, and there is nothing
like being a "pragmatic, regular guy, problem solver" to do
that job. I suppose this would be a good point to ask whom
might the Democrats throw up against him next time? And will
it be some unelectable bozo of someone who can give him a
fight?

9. He seems pretty popular
Even though he's had much the same policies as Davis, for some reason people just seem to like him better.

Right now I can't think of a single Dem who would run well against him. Hope I'm wrong.

10. I agree, I just don't think it's accidental.
Ahnuld has lots of negatives, just like Davis, but
Ahnuld's are ignored while we got to hear all about
Davis'. I don't like either one of them, but it's
obvious who the skids were greased for and who has
a tailwind. Finding a Dem who can defeat Ahnuld is as
easy as finding a Dem that will run on issues that
people care about. Davis ran mostly on his support
for the Prison guards union, what is there there to
vote for? The turnout for the recall was miniscule.
