How about Bowen for Feinstein's Seat in 2012?
CA-36 is fine but I think she should set her sights higher. I doubt Feinstein will run again as she'll be 79 in 2012. Bowen could easily take this seat and we'd have a REAL progressive instead of the war profiteer we have in there now. I know I'd work tirelessly for her -- something I haven't done since Dean.

1. Last year Feinstein hinted that she would run for reelection 2012:
Feinstein hints she'll run again in 2012

There’s been much speculation about the plans of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) — particularly with some prominent Democrats such as L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom potentially waiting in the wings for a chance to run for U.S. Senate.

But in the midst of answering a question about California’s water issues while campaigning with U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) Monday in San Jose, Feinstein, who is 77, indicated that she doesn’t have any plans to give up her seat. The slip about 2012 came when she was answering a question from a reporter and was explaining that water is “huge issue for California” and that without water you “don’t have an economy.”

“Water is where it’s at. We’re the largest agricultural industry in America, and it needs water; and high tech, and it needs water; and 38 million people, and they need water,” Feinstein said. “So in two years there will be a water bond on the ballot. That bond must be passed. And I will be running then, I intend to get out and support it.”

The moment might have passed without much notice. But when Feinstein had finished speaking, Boxer stepped to the podium with a grin.

2. That's a shame, because I think this will be the third election I vote against her in the primary...
... and in the general.

We really need new blood to replace her in the Senate. Part of me was hoping that whatever was convincing Jane Harman to step down would be also something that might have Feinstein want to step down as well, since DiFi has been close to her over the years, and it was no secret that she wanted to get Harman in a security position on Obama's cabinet which didn't happen.

Maybe Harman thought that Obama might get talked in to "rearranging" his security cabinet positions after this election and was preparing for that, and when it didn't happen, saw it as the time to go to that "think" tank instead.

4. This is the first time I've seen this.
Goddess, how discouraging is that. And she'll win by a landslide. No, Bowen won't run against her. Damn! She completely lost my vote after her "yes" vote on the IWR.

3. Debra Bowen deserves that kind of influence, lemmetellya.
I've seen her in action at a tough hearing, crossing swords with complete assholes, and she was fricking amazing. Sharpest tool in the shed.

Yeah, I'd work hard for her.

10. Nobody gives up power that easily.
Feinstein thinks she's entitled to the seat for life, and frankly, she thinks she's above the party.
