Wow, big excitement this afternoon in SFValley - LAUSD officer shot at
Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 04:19 PM by kestrel91316
ElCamino Real HS, saved by his bulletproof vest, gunman still at large (not a student?), SWAT team called out, endless sirens on the 101 Fwy since 11:30 AM.

The entire area from Victory Blvd on the north down to the 101 Fwy on the south, west to Hidden Hills and east to Fallbrook Ave is cordoned off.

Pan-effin'-demonium.

1. Ah, how I miss the SFV
(not)

But I still have family there, in that exact area actually. But, to be honest, we're all sort of used to this sort of thing. Sad huh?

2. Police are not used to it...
When a civilian gets shot at then send a squad car out, but when a police officer gets shot out they send out the whole squad and the SWAT team. Seems they take their own safety a bit more seriously.

3. Turned out to be just some jackass breaking into cars who got confronted
and pulled out his gun.

Sure glad he had a weapon to DEFEND himself from wayward cops and such. Everyone should carry them around here.

:sarcasm:

4. Um... that officer has "now been arrested for making up the story" WTF?
Los Angeles (CNN) -- A police officer in Los Angeles who claimed he was shot while patrolling near a high school has now been arrested for making up the story, authorities said.

Officer Jeff Stenroos of the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Department had said he was shot in the chest on January 19 in the west San Fernando Valley. He said the shooting happened when he got out of his squad car to check on a man peering into parked vehicles near the El Camino High School.

The alleged shooting prompted an hours-long lockdown of several schools as police scoured the area looking for the shooter.
