For Pot, Against 19
While I support decriminalization of marijuana, I oppose Prop 19 because of its potential to weaken current medical marijuana law.

1. Hey Mary Bear.
This seems to be a subject where reasonable people will disagree. I'm going to vote for it, but I do understand why some pro-legal-pot people are not happy with it.

I'm betting that once it becomes a government revenue-center, the forces of the "market" will make it just like booze or tobacco, for "recreational" use, which I think is exactly right. At some point it may even dawn on the police departments that it could could keep them from being outsourced and/or privatized, a new source of tax revenue.

It is true that I would be unhappy to have the current medical pot system harmed in any way, it seems to work well, and provides a living for a lot of people in tough times.

It is true that Prop 19 is not the most important issue on the ballot to me, win or lose.
:hi:

2. Hi there!
It is an important issue to me. I know several people who are medical marijuana users.

One suggestion has been taxes at $50 an ounce. In this area some people can purchase medical marijuana for far less than that.

Another reason to vote against 19 is that it is poorly written. Better initiatives are in the works.

7. As a patient, I've looked into this -- PROP 19 WILL NOT HURT CURRENT MM LAW.
Those who tell you it will are not being honest about the proposition. Some big-time growers/dispensaries are pushing the lie to keep their monopoly -- it's noted right in the first part of the prop that it WILL NOT override or supercede patients' rights.
