An excellent election for Democrats in California.
Contrary to conventional wisdom, Democrats retained ALL of their state senate and assembly seats, and came close to knocking off one state assembly Republican in San Diego.

Barbara Boxer retained her senate seat by a large margin. And, of course, John Kerry won a decisive 10-point victory for the presidency.

Though I regret that things didn't turn out differently in other states, we in California can be proud of these results here and set out to plan still greater victories in the future.

2. True but the propositions were a mixed bag
as of now, people ACCUSED of a felony will give DNA samples, the healthcare intiative failed and the three strikes initiative failed so we will continue to lock up more and more people and more and more money will go to locking people up rather than lifting them up.

3. And almost all dems elected to Congress in CA, and Dem. majority
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 12:30 PM by Zinfandel
in both state houses, as well as dems. in every single state office (except muscleheads) and of course both US senators are Dems.

California is a democrats haven.

And where I live...The Northern California Coast, it's a liberal bastion.

We don't have to move to another country...it's the best place in the world to be, on the liberal Nothern CA Coast (From Santa Cruz all the way up to Trinidad, Humboldt County)!!!!!

5. New Governor 2006
So what do things look like for the gubernatorial in 2006? Who is thinking of running on the Democratic ticket?
Wille Brown?
Is Arnie going for it again? I've been so wrapped up in the national scene, I'm just not following CA.
California needs to be as blue as the ocean, no more compromising.
Nothing is "safe" anymore.

13. Completely agree. California is in danger of going RED
one of these days.......CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN. I'm a native Californian. I've watched the ebb and flow of politics here. It would b a terrible mistake to take calif. for granted....

We still have large Dem congress/senate representation ...CALL THEM, WRITE THEM, and URGE them to stay FOCUSED, fight back for liberal values like wild cats (not just for us, but for those dems in red states that don't have a voice)

POWER TO THE PEOPLE....Again!!

20. Our two Californias aren't north and south - they're now coast and valleys
Coast is blue, valleys are red. With the exception of Ventura County that is. We're coastal, but since we're known as "Bakersfield by the Sea" our once-blue county just went RED.

8. We would need someone to match Arnie's star power...
There's no getting around the fact that he's a major celebrity. We'll need someone equally as popular. Warren Beatty?

We'd need someone who's quick-witted, funny. People love comedy over action.
