Medical Marijuana laws passed recently in Michigan....how does one go about getting a prescription?

Thought I'd ask in here...

what conditions would qualify for a scrip
in California?

Glaucoma?

High Blood Pressure?

Chronic Nausea?

Anybody have info on this, guidelines
in Michigan seem to be unavailable.

1. First of all is it NOT a "scrip".
You get a "recommendation" not a prescription. It is illegal under federal law for a doctor to write a prescription for marijuana.

So just remember whatever the state law is you can still go to federal prison for minor possession. You probably won't unless you are caught with it on federal property--like an airport. But it can and does happen -- particularly on Interstate highways.

Here in California the law is somewhat vague so the conditions can be anything from upset stomach, trouble sleeping to side effects from Chemo. The doctor generally wants some evidence that your condition predated the passing of the medical marijuana law.

When I presented my paperwork showing I have a 10% disability from the military for PTSD; he said "well this is a no-brainer"

I have to get renewed every year and the office visit is $150.

Is there a way to find Dr.s who are
predisposed to writing "recommendations"?

the little 'zines that have the schedules for the alternative bands and art exhibits.

You might also check the NORML website for a chapter near you -- might be some info there

6. Thank you guys...
My brother has no insurance and no "family physician",
but he's been dealing with complications of diabetes
and severe back pain.

Plus, his wife is a botanist!

:)

I think he's going up to Ann Arbor to find
a doctor to document his ailments, then he'll
go to the Southfield clinic.

Thanks again!

8. Pots illegal?
I'm 54 and have been smoking since I was 16. No problem and no brain damage.

Doctors who are compassionate care physicians advertise in the major papers and the underground ones. You could check 420.com or Google it with your zip.

I have unemployed related money issues and have problems sleeping due to the anxiety. Taking Ambien daily isn't the best way to get a nights sleep, especially if you wake in the middle of the night.

So I have a recomandation to use marijuana as a means of replacing chemicals with gods gift.

I have never observed criminal activity at the collectives and find most people very friendly.

I am 20 miles north of Los Angeles, where according to Bill Maher, there are more pot dispensaries then Starbucks.

The only real trouble comes from a gung ho DA named Cooley who doesn't want to fight violent gangs but stoned people who I am sure will prove a challenge worthy of shooting or tasering.
