SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. -- Voters, beware! A clever election scam has reared its head in San Joaquin County and could be headed for your front door.
It's a scam that's preying on voters who are trying to make sure their votes are counted.
County resident Judith Woods said someone came by her house Wednesday night and asked if she voted absentee. The solicitor said that if Woods did, the solicitor would be willing to pick up her ballot and turn it in, according to Woods.
"They didn't look like someone I could trust," Woods said.
According to the San Joaquin Registrar's Office, the solicitor committed voter fraud. The ballot scam started just a few days ago, and the county has already had at least five calls from concerned voters.
