Voter turnout's gonna be damned depressing

When I voted around 2 p.m., I got to talking with the precinct captain and he said, "Guess how many people have voted so far out of 1,100?"

I low-balled him and said 50, figuring it'd be between that and 100.

"Nope," he said. "Twenty-five."

I said, "But you'll get a bit of a rush around 5:30."

"Maybe two," he said.

Oh — and Shell regular was $4.43.

1. there were some people at my polling place this morning

but this was like the stealth primary. i remembered it because i looked at the calendar. an election is an election, i think it's important to vote in all elections.

Oh - and Valero premium was $4.51.

2. We've had good turnout locally, but have a couple of good Supervisor races

to fuel turnout.

I sure hope 98 gets nixed.

4. We've got three supe seats up for grabs

Those races usually spark a lot of interest around here. I swear half the town has yard signs.

Maybe 500 people voted absentee. :shrug:

5. I went by the county election office today and it was tomb quiet

The whole time I was there, three people including myself dropped off their ballots (need I even bother mentioning the other two were seniors?) and nothing else was going on. Normally that place is a hive of activity on election day.

Why on earth didn't they just do the whole primary at once?

6. My precinct had a whopping twenty-two people by noon

I was informed the absentee vote numbers were significantly lower this election, too.

Nothing like a good old fashion 'guns Gods and gays' wedge issues to draw the fundies out of their caves.

Personally I hate that my Dem didn't get much of a challenge!

Peeps complaint of blue dogs, but when push comes to shove....
