2. Why can't we have a Californian
who is very familiar with our issues to run? I'm sorry but I want someone who has lived here for a significant amount of time

5. Funny you brought that up!
About a year ago, I posted something about what if Howard Dean ran for governor of California. I seem to recall that a lot of people, on DU anyway, would have voted for Dean. However, surely there has to be a prominent, true blue Democrat out there to stand up to Ahhhnuhld!

He's tough, smart and a true blue Democrat. State Treasurer Phil Angelides.

12. Further research: the SOS office in Cal in 2003
during the recall was of the opinion that that provision (5 years) was unconstitutional (I'm guessing under the US Const.)

In any case, Gore is not going to run in 2006 for Gov in Cal this late in the game. Reality: the 2008 race will start in earnest with campaigning in spring 2007. He can't get elected then abandon the state if that was the plan. And in any case he's not going to sideswipe the two Dems who have been running for months.

For those of you who still think he will, we have less than 2 months (March 10) until the filing deadline.

13. The SOS may be of that opinion but did the Court rule that way?

14. They have not that I know of
so it would be a legal battle for anyone running without 5 yrs in the state.

15. During the recall, who had an issue with the five year eprovision?

I tried googling but couldn't figure it out.

16. I am not sure if any one in particular did
or it was just a general statement for those filing from the SOS office.

Here's where I found (see page 1 footnote) the statement:
