2. Couldn't make it.
As much as I would have liked to skip school, my grades aren't doing well and I had an exam. So I had to miss the rally. Although the school (Vista College) did have a session around the same time with progressive speakers.

Well, there will be more rallies. If only this one was at night.

3. Maybe they should have had this on election day...
I was just thinking on this earlier today, and how we complain about not having a day off for election day and how that might lower the turnout for citizens to vote (which hurts Democrats usually). If they'd made this protest on November 8th, then some people could use the excuse that they need to vote to take part in the protest. Others also might be more able to vote by taking maybe the only day off they had on election day so that they could do both this protest and vote on the same day.

I gotta believe one could do both protests and voting if one plans it right.

A little late now, but I had to save my day off until next week to help out with the election anyway, and really couldn't justify having two days off within a week.

5. It was a wonderful day of combativity!
I have not been so fulfilled by a political action in a very long time. The level of energy and fighting spirit was so high! The crowd was probably almost half comprised of brave and determined high school students. We all need to demonstrate such a level of determination in order to drive out the Bush regime!

6. Repost from GD: Pictures from San Francisco protest
Not great pictures (from my cell phone), but I thought I'd share. There were thousands of people there (filled about four city blocks), which is hard to tell from these; I started out walking along the side of the march from the rear, and snapped until I got up to the front, then took the rest from inside the march. There's one of a guy in a suit...he was one of the people who joined as the march passed him; I thought that was great.

I wish I'd taken pics of the cops; there was a massive number of them along every stretch of the route. I tried to duck into the Metreon at one point because I had to use the bathroom, and was blocked by a line of them in riot gear. While I slipped around the building to sneak inside, a few dozen kids were arrested for staging a die-in in the middle of Market Street.

Cindy Sheehan was supposed to be speaking, but I missed the pre-march rally. :(
