Our next Governor! Phil Angelides
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 04:05 PM by Carla in Ca

On gay marriage veto:

“By vetoing the Civil Marriage and Religious Freedom Protection Act, Governor Schwarzenegger has come down on the wrong side of history. Governor Schwarzenegger had the chance to enter the pages of history with the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson; instead he has chosen to be listed alongside George Wallace and Strom Thurmond. Just as Wallace, Thurmond and many other segregationists came to regret their errors, I hope that Governor Schwarzenegger will come to change his views.”

On Assembly Bill 48, minimum wage increase:

“Today, Governor Schwarzenegger dealt yet another blow to the countless working Californians struggling to support their families and put food on the table. In the face of rising gas prices, spiraling medical costs, and increasing tuition at colleges throughout our state, Governor Schwarzenegger has once again chosen to side with big business and against the interests of millions of working Californians struggling to make ends meet.”

10. Are actors any worse than Lawyers?
sorry, that's an old puke meme that somehow entertainers should keep their mouths shut. I don't buy it

4. You got one more year to go
I still remember Pete Wilson dropping down into the 20's and then coming back to win easily in 1994. Californians are notoriously volatile. I should know, I am one (but I live in Texas now).

I like your beagle.

5. I'm actually beginning to believe this
A few months ago, I thought the idea of Angelides beating Arnold was preposterous.

On the other hand . . .

Does anybody remember the way Kathleen Brown handled the inept and unpopular Pete Wilson when he ran for re-election?

Arnie is weak and we must exploit his weaknesses to the fullest extent.

13. I share your "shrinking pessimism"
Jack. It looks as if Kindergarten Governor might need a good wedge next year. I don't think they can gett away with public resentment of first responders. Well there's Pete's old bugaboo, Mexicans.

No "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships," but actual marriage?

Count me in.
