Going to be at E-board next weekend? Lib resolutions could use speakers
The PHDC has a number of resolutions before the E-board the weekend of Oct 1st and they would welcome some informed speakers to get them through the resolutions committee and to the floor. A little over a year ago, they got Maxine Waters to speak for a resolution calling for a legislated moratorium on the death penalty. The resolution was adopted (practically unanimously) and now there is a moratorium bill in the assembly. In July, the members of the PHDC got three resolutions through the E-Board.

The PHDC resolutions which may go to the floor this time include ones to impeach Bush and call for the convening of grand juries to investigate the members of his current and past administration, calling on Bush to meet with Cindy Sheehan, calling on all Senators to oppose John Roberts, calling for an end to the Cuban embargo, calling for a ban on military recruiters in high schools and colleges and on the release of student information to recruiters without express permission, calling for the withdrawal from the WTO and the cancellation of NAFTA, calling for a ban on commercial and military use of depleted uranium, calling for the U.S. Government to respect the government of Venezuela and calling for Barbara Boxer to replace Harry Reid as minority leader. They are also backing a resolutions, which was postponed last time, calling for IRV (something that would have prevented Bush from stealing the election from Gore in 2000).

This club does not sit on its hands. It's extremely active and energetic.
