Need recommendation of reasonable Auto Body shop in San Diego -
We had a nasty bit of a vehicle Ouchie (front end) this afternoon when I was at work, so after taking care of the emergency rental car issue and minor people Ouchie (thank goodness for air bags and Urgent Care!), I tracked down the towing company and where the van is.

Of course, the towing lot is closed for the weekend. And we're going to be charged for "storage" for today and the two days over the weekend, and probably the additional day on Monday, if we can't get it out before noon.

Since we're being screwed by the towing company (they doubled the hookup fee and mileage because the cops called them), I'd rather we not be screwed too much by the body shop. So we're looking for anyone reasonable and reliable in the Mission Gorge/Mission Valley area. Nothing fancy, we just want them to take it and give us a estimate to get it running again.

Any places we can call quickly?

Thanks for any help.

Haele
(and a very sore, but okay Lazarus and kidlet)

1. Hm. If you have full coverage then you should get a referral.
If not then maybe a place like Chaperone would be ok. They're not too far from where you're at.

2. La Mesa Paint & Body Shop did a great job on my new car,
which had the entire front end crunched by a semi-tire that fell off an elevated section of freeway onto the top of my hood.

Drives great and looks great! You'd never know it was in a wreck. This is the place my mechanic recommended, by the way.

3. No clue about the auto body shops in your area
but since you mentioned your kid was in the car, if he or she is car seat age, the seat should be destroyed and insurance is legally obligated to pay to replace it under CA law.

Hope you're feeling better soon

4. Kid's 13, no problem. Doctor said it's lucky she's big for her age.
The van, however, is elderly and has seen more mileage than the Blue Book lists on it's preferred lists for that model. The deductable is actually more than the vehicle is worth.
It's mainly soreness for them, dad got a few cuts from the airbag deployment, and the jitters from the accident.
Weird thing - the other two drivers in the accident didn't seem to care about anything other than getting on with the afternoon; apparently, they didn't for our insurance info - any other info - which may be bad for them, because Hubby says the cop on the scene (who was there at the time of the accident) apparently didn't do anything more than to check licence, registration, and to verify that everyone was a legal driver and had insurance.
Hubby didn't sign anything, no accident report - nothing.
I took them to Urgent Care after I got another vehicle and pick them up at the corner where the accident happened.

Weird.

Haele
