The non-partisan judicial races
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 07:22 PM by 69KV
I just did some checking on the non-partisan judicial races.

On your Arizona ballot you will see a section asking if so-and-so judge should be retained, but they don't list any kind of party affiliation. Here is their actual party affiliation. Not all of these names will be on the ballot this year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arizona Supreme Court -

Rebecca Berch, Charles Jones, and Michael Ryan are all Republicans. Vote "NO" on retaining them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Court of Appeals Division I -

Daniel Barker R, James Sult, Jon Thompson, John Gemmill, G. Murray Snow, Lawrence Winthrop, and Philip Hall are all Republicans. Vote "NO" on them.

Patrick Irvine, Susan Ehrlich, Jefferson Lankford are all Democrats. Vote "YES" on them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Court of Appeals Division II -

M. Jan Florez and John Pelander are both Republicans. Vote "NO" on them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maricopa County Superior Court -

Republicans (vote "NO"): Linda Akers, Robert Oberbillig, Rebecca Albrecht, Michael O’Melia, Frank Galati, Cari Harrison, Anna Baca, Ruth Hilliard, Edward Ballinger, Jr., Barbara Jarrett, William Sargeant III, Andrew Klein, Roland Steinle III, Gregory Martin, Connie Contes, John Ditsworth, Colleen McNally, David Udall, Michael McVey.

Democrats (vote "YES"): John Foreman, Pamela Franks, Louis Araneta, Ronald Reinstein, Silvia Arellano, Teresa Sanders, Mark Santana, Paul Katz, Barry Schneider, Colin Campbell, Margaret Mahoney, Sherry Stephens, Crane McClennen, Richard Trujillo, Thomas Dunevant III, Kenneth Fields, Linda Miles.

Independents (vote "NO", both are right wingers): Steven Sheldon, David Cole.

Independent (your call): A. Craig Blakey II

Libertarian (your call): John Buttrick

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pima County Superior Court -

Republicans (vote "NO"): Deborah Bernini, Carmine Cornelio, Patricia Escher, Virginia Kelly, Kenneth Lee, Michael Miller, Clark Munger, Charles Sabalos, Paul Tang.

Democrats (vote "YES"): Edgar Acuna, Jane Eikleberry, Richard Fields, Howard Hantman, Jan Kearney, John Leonardo, Leslie Miller, Stephen Villarreal, Nanette Warner.

1. Thanks for posting
I moved, and opened a PO Box. My PO Box is stuffed full of election information. That would be great... if I lived in Mesa! I am having difficulties finding info. Any website recommendations?

2. Looking for recommendations on candidates?
Did you move outside of AZ or still in the state? If you're in AZ check this website which lists all the national candidates and links to their websites:
http://www.politics1.com/az.htm

The Arizona Republic has answers to candidate questionnaires at these sites:
http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/q_legis.html - State Legislature
http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/q_cong.html - U.S. Congress
http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/q_corp.html - Corporation Commission

I'd just vote a straight Dem ticket. That's always a safe bet, which just leaves those pesky nonpartisan judicial races.

5. Gotcha. And thank you.
I was concerned about that too. I couldn't find their affiliations before.
