KINGMAN -- Early voting for the Nov. 2 general election for local and state candidates begins today.

Citizens who want to vote early can pick up an early ballot at the voter registration office located at 1130 Hancock Road in Bullhead City or at the voter registration office located at the Arnold Plaza at 315 E. Oak Street in Kingman.

1. Early ballot arrived in mail today
Voting NOW.

This is the carefulest I have *ever* been with a ballot. Fill in circles completely, no stray marks, make a photocopy before I mail it just in case, fold exactly as I found it, sign the envelope...

Straight Democratic ticket in all races, including the U.S. Senate. No to all but two of the ballot initiatives...

This is the most important election in my lifetime and I'm treating it as such, for once.

3. I know what you mean...
I received my ballot on Saturday and I read and re-read the instructions making sure I don't screw it up.

My heart really did swell with pride when I connected the arrow for Senator Kerry.

I can't wait to hear the phrase, "President Kerry."

2. Maricopa Early Voting
---------------------------PRESS RELEASE - Maricopa County Recorder

EARLY VOTING SATELLITES FOR 2004 GENERAL SET TO OPEN

Phoenix, AZ, September 28, 2004 – Maricopa County Recorder, Helen Purcell, has established eleven (11) early voting satellites throughout the county for the 2004 General Election.

Early balloting for the November General officially begins on Thursday, September 30, and will conclude Friday, October 29, 2004 at 5:00pm. Verbal or written requests cease on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 5:00pm.

To request an early ballot, voters may call 602/506-1511; write to the County Recorder at PO Box 20681, Phoenix, AZ 85036; Fax the Elections Office at 602/506-8049; or use the County webpage, www.recorder.maricopa.gov.

Early voting will be available at the County Recorder's three offices from September 30 through October 29 at 5pm. The satellites will be open from October 5 to October 29 at 5pm.

As to the voters who have requested an early ballot, "We ask the voters to remember to sign their ballot affidavit on the back side of the return envelope before mailing it to the Elections department," said Purcell. "We cannot count the ballot if the return
envelope has not been signed. The signature is our proof for verification. Voters can also drop their voted ballot off at any
polling place on election day before 7:00pm."

So far just a little under 250,000 early ballot requests have been received in the Recorder's Office and Karen Osborne, Maricopa County Election Director, predicts more than half of the ballots cast in the General Election will be by early balloting.
