AZAN's Election protection plan; meeting RSVP
Could tens of thousands be turned away at the polls this November?

Based on AzAN's research and poll monitoring in recent elections, we estimate that there may be between 40,000 and 80,000 Arizona voters who will not get to vote or not have their vote counted because of problems with the Voter ID law, or being sent to the wrong polling place, or because they can't wait in long lines to vote.

Where can voters turn when they are told they don't have adequate ID to vote once they arrive at the polls? What can they do if their polling place has changed and there are no signs telling them where to go? What can we do to make sure voters that make the effort are actually able to vote?

Come hear about AzAN's Election Protection plan for the 2008 elections and find out what you can do to help.

Date: Thursday, July 31, 2008
Time: Refreshments at 5pm; program starts at 6pm.
Location: Faith Lutheran Church at 801 E. Camelback, just east of 7th Street on the South side of Camelback.

RSVP today by calling us at 602-297-2500 or emailing us at rsvp@azadvocacy.org.

Thank you for all you do.

--Linda, Anastatia, Alexis and Joe

AzAN review of "Connerly Con" petitions re-scheduled* for Thursday August 7th. RSVP today.
Free food, great company and an important cause: Volunteer to help disqualify anti-equal opportunity measure from the ballot.

If you can join us on August 7th from 5pm to 9pm, please let us know by clicking here or by calling us at 602-297-2500.

If that time slot doesn't work for you, call us anyway and we'll book you for another time. This work will be going on round-the-clock at UFCW Local 99, 2401 N. Central Avenue, on the NE corner of Central and Vernon just two blocks south of Virginia.

If you haven't spent an evening working side-by-side with fellow progressives engaged in a single-minded effort you don't know what you're missing. That's what we'll be doing on Thursday, August 7th from 5pm to 9pm as we page through thousands of petitions looking for errors, fraud and any other reason to invalidate signatures.

With all hands on deck we can defeat the "Connerly Con" before it makes it to the ballot. Deceptively being sold as a "civil rights" initiative, this extreme measure would amend the Arizona constitution to bar the state and local governments and schools and universities from offering any type of equal opportunity programs. On the chopping block would be programs that support teen mothers, help protect victims of domestic violence, or encourage young women to pursue careers in Science and Technology. It's a bad one, folks.

We can do this, but only if you help. Please sign up by clicking here, or by calling the office at 602-297-2500. We will be working out of UFCW Local 99, 2401 N. Central Avenue, on the NE corner of Central and Vernon just two blocks south of Virginia.

Thanks so much for all you do.

--Linda, Anastatia, Alexis and Joe

*Due to a delay in receiving copies of the petitions from the Secretary of State's office, we had to re-schedule our petition review. Many thanks to the 35 people that signed up for this work. Please consider joining us on Thursday August 7th from 5pm to 9pm.

3. Yeah and Phil is going to be speaking at the State Committee meeting in Flagstaff.
I was at a candidate debate and I was "assaulted" by a hispanic women handing out "pink slips " for Phil.Unbelivable. She even spoke with an accent and said she was "afraid" of the immigrants" and "Only " Joe would "protect" her and Phil would let crime run rampant.Unbelivable.
Ana what is so weird is Phil is waay to bipartisan .Remember when he endorsed McCain? And yet, it makes NO difference with these folks! He is voted "best mayor " In America and they want to recall him? Morons.
