Tucson police bust man at ATM, find 200 credit cards and $168,000 cash

The arrest of a man using a Downtown ATM machine Saturday afternoon resulted in the
recovery of more than 200 credit cards and $176,000 in cash, police said Monday.

Marc A. Burton, 20, is now being held at the Pima County jail on charges of theft,
fraudulent schemes and artifices, aggravated identity theft and theft of a credit card.

Shortly after 1 p.m. someone called police to report that a man at the U.S. Bank ATM,
1 E. Congress Street, using several credit cards, Tucson Police said.
The caller said that the man then went across the street to a Chase bank ATM, 2 E. Congress,
and proceeded to do the same thing.

When officers arrived the man was gone from Chase. However, officers found Burton nearby at a
Wells Fargo bank ATM, 150 N. Stone Avenue, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Burton told police that a friend gave him several credit cards
and told him to withdraw all of the money, Pacheco said.

However, Mr. Gates says that the $176,000 was a loan and not a gift. Mr. Burton says that it was a gift. A trial will be scheduled soon.
