Career move
Hello! I'm thinking of moving to your fair state, probably the Phoenix area. Can anyone give me ideas of the best places to look for employment in the area? I'm a lawyer and would consider other career areas.
Thanks in advance for whatever info you can provide!

2. Tucson sounds good to me too
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 07:06 PM by in search of sanity
I think of Tucson as being in the same metropolitan area. (Silly me!) Any ideas on how to do a job search in Tucson?
Thanks!

14. That is the best one.
I'm currently job-hunting myself and I do look on hotjobs.com and monster.com but more jobs are listed on careerbuilder than the other two. You can set all of them up to do a search for you daily and e-mail you with the newest results. Nice timesaver!

16. Depends on what pace you're looking for in a new place.
Phoenix is much much bigger, more to do, faster pace. Not a "big city" socially or culturally (although it's getting better - I'm from the east coast, so moving here 15 years ago was a bit of a shock, but much has changed). However, physically it's very big and getting bigger daily! Tucson is smaller, a little more laid back, a little quieter, a little "artsy" (I mean that as a compliment). I would suggest coming out and visiting both - it's only a two hour drive max between the two.

15. Yes, Phoenix has become LA-lite.
Smog is so bad here the last couple of weeks, we've had advisories. I have bad allergies, so I've been really affected. But, my parents live in Tucson and when I mentioned it to them, they didn't know what the heck I was talking about!

6. Great!
How is the job market and economy in your neck of the woods? Up here, I don't think things fully recovered from the dot.com bust.

I'm an attorney who has focused on employment law since 1990. I would like a less contentious work atmosphere.
I think I have excellent analytical and writing skills but don't think those are the kind of skills needed in the manufacturing area. Any ideas?

I thought that was what attorneys did. Contend.

10. Exactly
I'm tired of being emotionally drained by other people's unreasonable demands and dramas. It is contentious and often high stakes. I want a more pleasant approach to life.
What do you mean you're a shop rat in the desert? (I've dealt with people in all kinds of occupations)

all that.

If you are in Maricopa County, leave now.
There is no future there.

Come south.

After thinking about that, please don't come here.
It's too crowded.
