It is headed for Ketchikan after more than a week of being stranded on the rocks in Peril Straits. The State Ferry is worth between thirty and thirty-five million dollars and now they are saying it is finished.(watch e-bey) We just got a new fast ferry called the Fairweather which does thirty four knots and it's made out of aluminum. If it had been the one to hit the reef it would have ripped the hull from stem to stern and bounced completely over the rocks and sunk immediately. This is Juneau's answer to having a road built to connect it to the outside world. Sixty miles of road would have to be built but we would not need "fast ferries" that possibly could be disastrous if they ever hit anything. I am a Liberal that is for the road. I make no apologies.
