It was a really sucky primary result.
Mark got nominated, but hey, was that in doubt? Tolerable.

The hacks stopped Diane. Now we probably have much less chance of beating Don.

God it blows that Ballot Measure 3 went down in flames. Now we're doomed to the rich buying elections up here for the next few decades at least. They people that backed that measure did a crappy job editing it(I mean, c'mon, a SEVENTEEN PAGE ballot measure? :eyes:

I just feel like the people totally got hosed. It's hard for me to believe that it's worth campaigning now. I mean, I'll pick myself up and get back in the game in a few days, but I have to say August 26th was a total McKinley Guano Mac of an election.

Anybody else feeling this level of ickiness?

1. Yes. some very disappointed people here in NYC, who just loved and donated to Diane.
Someone very special. We have our own DCCC moving in and annointing the wrong candidate, entering last minute when conditions seemed easier to beat the GOP, Vito Fossella, family values with two families. Gotta love it.

Sorry to hear that Don has more of a chance.

We were to go back to visit Alaska next summer, but feel betrayed, somehow, and now with Palin...

2. This Southern Californian donated to Diane.
And I was really ticked off to watch them pull the rug out from under her after she softened up Young in 2006.

I'm in a Blue Dog's district, so I know what it's like to vote while holding my nose.

Good luck to all of you; try to hang in there.

3. Ken...

.
If sleazeball Parnell beats Don, Ethan will have a tougher time getting elected.

If Don prevails, I firmly believe Ethan can and will beat him.

4. I hope your second scenario turns out to be right.
And, just so you understand, my anger is more about those who used Ethan to stop Diane than it is about Ethan himself. I just feel we'd have been far better off if those people had got behind the strong candidate we already had in the race rather than recruiting a penis-possessor to step in and be proclaimed as "the REAL candidate".

We're going to have a horrible turnout among Alaska Native voters this fall. We may have lost them for good. The party owes all Alaska Natives a massive apology for doing this. Once again we've sent the message that, unless you're white, Alaska Democrats don't want you running for anything above state senator. If the first Native governor ends up being Jerry Ward, that'll be the fault of the "stop Diane" crowd.

Ethan has a ton of fence mending to do here. He can't just expect everyone to fall behind him as if that's his due.

5. Larissa, did you know that Ethan is co-writing Sarah's
ethics white paper. I presume you got this press release:

Berkowitz Congratulates Governor Sarah Palin

ANCHORAGE, AK, AUGUST 29, 2008: Alaska Democratic Congressional nominee Ethan Berkowitz joins fellow Alaskans in congratulating Gov. Sarah Palin on having been selected as the Republican nominee for Vice President.

“This is an exciting day for Alaska,” said Berkowitz. “Governor Palin has made her name fighting corruption within her own party, and I was honored when she stepped across party lines and asked me to co-author her Ethics White Paper. I wish Governor Palin, her husband Todd, and their children, the best of luck as they embark on this journey.”

Does this seem right to you, that "our" nominee for the House is basically working for the McCain campaign? I don't care if she is little Sarah, the Valley girl, she's playing with the big boys now, and I don't we should be doing anything to help the other side. I'm just sick about this.

6. Oh, and, Larissa, I'm not ganging up on your either.
I hope you don't think so. I'm just so weirded out by this whole Sarah thing. It was bad enough for Diane to lose, but then Sarah (??) for VP, and Ethan writing her position papers. WTF???

7. ethan and sarah
I thought I was going to gag when I read Ethan's gushing about Sarah. Pleeeeeze! It would be interesting to find out if Ethan really did know that letters were being sent out to attempt to influence the Republican primary to Don in the hopes that Ethan could beat Don. According to the Anchorage Daily News, that activity is not legal. Again, credibility with Ethan is going to continue to be a problem for a lot of us. I suggested Diane save her yard signs, 2010 is not far away!
