Any predictions for either Gubenatorial primary?
I realize that Knowleszilla will probably take the Dem primary, but what kind of a showing is Croft likely to make?

Also, any guesses as to how the OTHER primary will go? Order of finish, share of vote, that kind of thing...

Is the GOP race close enough that Frank could be saved by the voting machines?

1. As for Frank, I think (hope) he's toast.
I think my husband and I will vote for Croft in the primary because we like the way he has stood up to Frank and Big Oil. Whether it'll make a dent or not in Tony's lead, I don't know, but I figure we can't really lose either way.

5. Fair enough...
If you promised him to his face, you are sort of obliged.
I respect your integrity on the point.

If Knowles does get the nomination, I hope he campaigns for the rest of the party this time rather than making his race the only thing that matters. I have felt that Knowles' Senate campaign was basically responsible for our party not making a significant comeback here in '04.

7. Ken, I did some phoning for Danny Consenstein last night
and he mentioned that he knew you from Juneau. I had turned him on to DU when he came by our house a few weeks ago, so he apparently checked in and saw your name here. So :hi: from Danny.

8. Did Danny win? I've been away from communications media
overnight and the last I'd heard was that he was a few votes behind.

:( to Lindsey Holmes, who I don't know at all, but she seems young and enthusiastic, so I hope she'll win in November. This was Ethan Berkowitz's district, so hopefully we'll continue to be Democratic enough over here on the west side to defeat Steve Strait (whoever he is).

10. Damn. I'll have to call him.
Maybe Danny'll have a better chance to win later.

11. I really liked him a lot, and was sorry he lost.
We were visited personally by Bud Dubay and Danny. Lindsey's campaign sent a proxy who couldn't answer my questions about where she stood on issues of importance to me. She just kept saying, "That's a good question," and then said she'd have Lindsey herself get in touch with me to answer, which she never did. I was quite disappointed in the lack of follow-through. Danny stood at my door and talked to me for at least 20 minutes about his positions on all kinds of things, followed up with postcards thanking us personally for our interest in his campaign, and then called to see if we could help by manning a phone on Monday night. I had no problem with supporting him because he seemed so fully engaged with the neighborhood. I'm very sorry he didn't pull this off.

3. We have two AWESOME Democratic candidates this time...
I honestly can't say which of the two would be better. They both ROCK!!

But I'm with Cleofus on this one.. I'm sticking with Tony. He'll only be able to serve one more term if he wins, and Erik can jump in next race and serve out TWO terms! ~

As far as who will win the GOP.

I still personally don't think Frank really wants to win and knows that there's no way (with the exception of Diebold) that he could win. LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS!

I think he's in it for two reasons.. One, because the oil companies wouldn't take him seriously on all the wheelings and dealings he's involved in right now.

And two.. because if "Uni-brow" puts out accurate numbers this time, it will make the Diebold lawsuit look less valid if they show that Murky lost by a massive amount.

I was thinking all along that Palin was going to win the GOP race in a landslide.. but lately it looks like Binkley has picked up momentum and he's probably pretty close to her in the polls now?

Between the two of them, I really can't say which one will win at this point. I'm guessing Sarah wins that race by a squeak, but then again, it's getting hard to tell.

I'm guessing Tony and Ethan both win the Democratic primaries easily.

We'll know in two days!

4. Just wondering, why will Tony only be able to serve one more term?
Egan ran for a FOURTH term in '74. Did they change the law to make it three terms total for anybody?

I must've been thinking about Hickel's 3rd term.

Cool. If Tony wins, I hope he does get TWO more terms!!

12. A "squeak," Larissa?
 Actually, I was surprised, too, that Sarah won by such a landslide. I'm afraid Tony is going to have his work cut out for him. Plus there's always the Halcro factor, as Ken Burch pointed out to me. Some Republicans who don't like Sarah's anti-choice positions and some Democrats who don't like Tony's corporatist slant -- not to mention all those independent and undeclared voters - might just decide to give their vote to Halcro. It should be interesting.
