well-meaning people on the local news the other night
They were probably what pass for lefties in Alabama these days. God bless them.

They were protesting at the state capitol is solidarity with the people in Wisconsin. God bless them.

But I fell out of my chair when I heard a couple of them say that if the governor's actions are allowed to stand in Wisconsin, those same steps might be taken in Alabama.

Do those loyal union members, of which we have far too few in this state, not realize that Alabama has long been an Orwellian-named "right-to-work" state? And that Alabama workers already have far fewer rights than the ones in Wisconsin?

I don't know what to say. But the country is going to hell, and Alabama is, for once, out in front.

3. New DA in Baldwin County
Came into office and slashed salaries.

Thing is, we're already a "Right to Work" state. Sounds great doesn't it, but it means we've got the right to get fired for nothing, or quit when we want, we can't really strike effectively, it's hard to resist if we're discharged improperly. It's what WI is trying to avoid becoming, as well as most northern states.
