So George Wallace Jr. is running for Lt. Governor?

As a Republican. I thought he was a Democrat, or did he wait until his old man died to change parties. I don't think the old man ever switched to Republican (though I remember him supporting Bob Dole in 1996). The wikipedia link says that he spoke in front of the Council of Conservative Citzens in June.
