You guys got a great quarterback. Darn you! :banghead:

Neil Caudle pulled an Auburn University cap from behind his back and placed it on his head Monday, eliciting cheers from his family and teammates flanked behind him.

The Spain Park High School senior, considered one of the top prep quarterbacks in the nation, finalized his decision Saturday. He said he phoned Tigers offensive coordinator Al Borges and assistant coach Terry Price and told him of his decision to play at Auburn.

Caudle, who was being recruited by some of the nation's top major college football programs, had Auburn at the top of his list from the start.

"I had a connection with Auburn at the beginning, and from then on I think they were ahead," said Caudle. His father is a 1977 Auburn graduate and his sister attends the university.

2. good point
But I wish 'Bama had got him. But apparently he didn't even consider that... being a lifelong Auburn fan.

When I grow up and are ready to be sent off to college, are you going to send me to the Barn or send me to the real school in this state?

Or better yet, will it be your decision? I don't care if you do pay the rent...

Just remember this and you'll do fine in life. Even if you were a Republican I think you'd do alright...

12. I am completely neutral
I attended school in Mississippi and Chicago. So I have no axe to grind.

But it's clear why Caudle would choose Auburn over Alabama. The Tide has Brodie Croyle this one more year and then they have last year's Mr. Football, John Parker Wilson, who was grayshirted (that means he saved a year of eligibility by not enrolling until the spring). So Caudle would be a year behind Wilson. And also, remember that Wilson was the QB at Hoover High School, which is Spain Park's archrival.

At Auburn, Caudle would be behind Brandon Cox, who I believe will be a junior this year.

But the real Alabama QB to watch this year will be Jamarcus Russell, who will take over the starting job at LSU. He is a former Alabama Mr. Football, having gone to Williamson High School in Mobile. Alabama didn't even recruit him.

18. I hope Brodie can stay healthy this year
He's a potentially great qb, but he's just so damn injury prone.

But then again our entire offensive backfield was decimated with injuries last season. I hope things go differently this season.

Personally, I think Coach Shula made a mistake with replacing the strength and conditioning coach last year, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

and I can contribute nothing to present football threads. But I was a teenager when Shug was coach and Auburn was #1 in 1957!

Bama beat the Barn 8/10 times in that decade. We also had 3 national championships during that span as well...
