Irony, sweet bloody irony. ..
I love it.

Gore, immediately after the first debate, was generally acknowledged to have won. . .before the spin machines geared up, after which he became wooden and stiff and not "connected" with voters the way Bush was, and he somehow became the loser.

Then, last night. . .quite frankly, I saw last night as a tie - but for once OUR spin machines (helped by a huge dose of Cheney lies) have turned that. Edwards and the Dems won it, and won it big.

Gore, after the spin machine got hold of him, became a "different" person in the second debate, which didn't help him a whit. Bush is now in the same predicament - he HAS to do something drastically different in his second debate. Like Gore, he loses if he doesn't, and he loses if he pulls the same kinda too-dramatic transformation that Gore tried, simply because it's so obvious.

Al baby, I really, really hope you're enjoying this.

2. Poor Al
He hasn't taken the last 4 years at all well, has he. Imagine thinking, "What if I had don't something different. We wouldn't be in this mess now."

It's okay Al. It's not your fault. As Eileen says, enjoy watching Bush play your part.

4. I agree!
I think Bush is in a pickle in terms of the next debate. Does anyone know if the networks will be following the rules in terms of camera shots? Bush could end up looking a lot better than last time if the viewers aren't allowed to see his silly expressions.

6. Oh, I think they'll ALL be following it
since that was "the" story last time around. In fact, ol' Bush is gonna be under a microscope for every li'l squint/smirk. They'd be nuts if they didn't. And each li'l grimace is gonna be parsed more than anything that's said.

Unless he overnight develops the poker face of Gus Hansen (for followers of World Poker Tour) he ain't gonna be allowed a blink.

7. did you hear Bush's whiny defense?
He said that anybody would be making faces after listening to Kerry. Basically, he's admitting that he was doing exactly what his people slammed Al (and Hillary) for allegedly doing, when HE was talking.
