Cheney saying he met Edwards for the first time last night was Awesome!
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 06:36 AM by trumad
Why? Because it was a out of the blue attack that most folks who saw the debate will remember.... And why is it important that they remember that moment? Because it was the one Cheney lie that will stand out the most.

I mean come on Dick! If your gonna come out of Right field to attack a guy, at least make it factual!

1. What he failed
to mention in that remark is in those weekly meetings with the Senate, he only meets with Republicans in a luncheon. I also love his example of Zel Miller being the keynote speaker at the RNC as an example of bipartisanship.

4. Oh yes................
Zell is the PERFECT example of a bipartisan Democrat. Zell should be made to resign from the Democratic Party. He's no more a Democrat than Hitler was a Jew.

11. Yeah using Zig Zag Zell as an example of Bipartisanship was surreal, to
say the least. Cheney must think Benedict Arnold was evidence of a cozy relationship between the Americans and King George.

2. that was really stupid
It's already had plenty of play this a.m. on the news and it will probably continue for the rest of the day. The rhetorical impact of that statement was hardly worth the exposure he'll get as a liar. There will be photographs and video clips of him meeting Edwards.

Dumb. Really, really dumb.

Cher

6. If it was the most recent: February 5, 2004
It is an annual event so this may be from a previous year.

7. From discussion on another board (CG)
It was actually 2001. Apparently, Elizabeth reminded Cheney of it when they spoke after the debate.

Kinda wondered how they could've gone 4 years w/o meeting, at a SOTU if nowhere else....

8. Cheney probably misspoke. What he meant to say was:
Go fuck yourself.

10. After the debate, all the cheney fans were loving his comment
about never meeting Edwards before. They thought he got in such a great jab.

Wonder what they are thinking about his statement now? he he he

12. you have a point.
I think Cheney is either a pathological liar or senile or both. In any of those scenarios, he is not qualified to be VP of this country.

13. Biggest gaffe award to Cheney -
for that one. All the stations are playing it up. He comes across as purposely meanspirited, rather than just "forgetful" as Bush would have.
