4. Gore won the first debate
But his campaign didn't know what to do with the win in the 24 hours after. A lesson well learned.

8. And actually he won the election.
Another lesson that does not need to be forgotten. Elections can be stolen in a coup.

7. Did they really win?
Or is that just your opinion? I really don't know because I was to young and not interested back then. As far as Gore if he won, it wasn't as decisive as Kerry's win.

3. And when they bring up 2000
saying Gore won the debate and chimpy won the election, that's bogus because we all know Gore won the election too!

5. well I can counter that
with whoever's ahead at the end of September is almost always elected. All of these pronouncements are pretty meaningless. Kerry needs to whomp the little liar in the next two debates.

11. That's not quite true. Many elections have been won in September but lost
in November. 1980 and 2000 are good examples of that.

6. Didn't Mondale win the first debate between
himself and Reagan? Then Reagan came back and said "I refuse to exploit my opponent's youth and inexperience." And unfortunately, Reagan went on to carry 49 states.

12. My opinion
Mondale may have won the first debate but he never at any time had a chance to beat Reaga. He could of won all of the debates and would have lost.

13. I agree.
I was just replying the posters comment that whoever wins the first debate wins the election. You're absolutely right, Mondale never had a chance.
