Ladies, help restore my faith in our gender - please!
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 07:29 PM by PittLib
This is from a Cincinnati site:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x945854

And the female * supporters when asked what their thoughts on the debate are:

*Kerry was definately on the attack last night, and there is nothing worse than an idiot on attack. President Bush did not stoop to that level, he proved that he has class. I would much rather have a President that can walk the walk rather than someone like Kerry who only talks. Kerry has no substance and if he is mistakenly voted in the whitehouse the US will not have any allies Kerry isn't very smart he is burning his bridges before he even crosses them. I can only pray that the American Public isn't fooled by the spit and polish of Kerry who underneath is nothing but fluff! President Bush fights for the American public, Kerry may fight but he only fights for himself. I find it very hard to believe anything that Kerry says he does more back peddeling than a clown in a circus. The debate did not change my vote. "Bush for President" !

--Sandy Mangan, Bethel, Ohio, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 7:42:0

(this one could be male ... ) Maybe they just confused the candidates! Sounds like they're talking about * to me!

*It is obvious after last nite's debates, Senator Kerry has very little knowledge of matters abroad, and does not have the ability, nor deep love of country and American citizens to do what it takes,(even war) for our safety. It is so said to see how people have forgotten 9-11-01. I thank God President Bush has not!

--Mary Jane Gertz, Reading, Ohio, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 6:55:00

>Perhaps Ms. Gertz should listen to Kristen Brietweiser about how she's had to fight for the 9/11 commission every inch of the way. Nooo, Bush hasn't forgotten! We got Osama ... I mean Saddam ... I uh ...

*What debate? That was no debate. Their wasn't anything about last night that was remotely fair to 'both' candidates. Where were the tough questions for John Kerry to respond to? This was simply a 'hold Bush up and knock him down' show. A debate? I think not.

--Debbie, Eastgate, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 6:55:00 AM

>"WAHH! No fair!"
Gee - it wouldn't have anything to do with * being an incredible suck ass, would it? He can't defend his abysmal record, period.

*Anyone can look presidential it means nothing. It really makes me cringe to here the democrates say he has proven with the debate that he can be president...HOW! it is just a bunch of talk. He would tell and untruth and Bush would correct the statement. Every time Kerry was asked a question on his plan all he would talk about was what Bush was doing wrong. I have yet to hear an actual plan than Kerry has. No doubt it changes daily.

--Jeanne Adams, Covedale, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 6:17:00 AM

>Um, okay?

*On target President Bush has continued to instill faith and safety through his demeanor and policy standard. Kerry is another matter all together - he probably can't choose his own wardrobe much less his opinion on an issue. Last night we saw another angle. I'm dizzy. Give me Bush and Cheney.

--Elise Swanson, Wilder KY, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 5:32:00 AM

>Is this an adult talking? And, yes you must be ditzy ... I mean dizzy.

*President Bush did a great job holding strong last night. John Kerry just tells one lie after another to fit his spin. If he would win the election it would be the WRONG president, in the WRONG place AT THE WRONG TIME!

--Nancy Shaffer, Downtown, Friday, October 01, 2004 - 4:53:00 AM

>I'm sure glad Nancy, here, stayed tuned long enough to pick up this gem of a quote! Dickhead only said like 15 times!

It's bad enough that I'm constantly having to assert my independence and intelligence to fight against archaic notions of womanhood ... I sure as hell don't need these so-called women kicking progress in the shins!

I accidently posted this before I finished ... sorry!

The response on this site was overwhelmingly for Kerry ... almost 10 to 1 - I just am appalled by the number of female * supporters and their ignorance!

2. It would, in fact,
have to do with it being a) Cincinnati and b) The Enquirer. Cincinnati -- especially the 'burbs on the east side, which appear to be primarily where these quotes were derived -- is notably conservative, and the Enquirer has always been very right-wing.

I'm sure there are places in Cincinnati they could have asked women the same question and gotten completely different answers -- like Corryville, where the University of Cincinnati is located, or Norwood, which is more ethnically diverse and at least somewhat more politically diverse than the eastern 'burbs.

4. Talked to couple who live near Cleveland
I was in Reno last few days, great place to be to talk about Kerry. I went to a show the night before last and sat across from couple who live near Cleveland. Wife (woman woman woman, yes a woman!!!!) who is solid Kerry. Husband Bush. They laughed as they said their votes will cross eash other out. But I saw it as great sign woman was for Kerry! and in Ohio.

5. Bethel, Reading, Eastgate:
The suburbs of Cincinnati have no clue. When Peak Oil hits, they will regret fiddling while Rome burned.

let's see the posts from Clifton, OTR, Hyde Park.

7. CBS reported last night that Kerry got higher points from women than men.
The people you quote sound like extreme right-wingers who would declare shrub the winner even if he showed up drunk for the debate.

I read a shrub-supporting post on she-net by a young woman. She agrees "completely" with the so-called "PBA" ban, approves of government supporting faith-based charities, and is absolutely confident that the shrub would protect the country better.

On the other hand, if the 1.15 million pro-choicers who showed up for the March for Women's Lives in NY, and those who couldn't show up but supported the march (like me) all vote, Kerry will win hands down.

9. I agree with your assessment.
These women sound like clueless freepers, not undecided voters. If * asked them to jump of a bridge or out of a plane without a parachute, they't thank him for the honor and do it.

10. I couldn't even imagine my husband
advising me about who I would I vote for. But I know women that want to keep the peace in their households. Not a good excuse especially when ballots and voting is a private matter. I have explained this a number of times to these women.

22 million single women didn't vote in the last election. I hope they realize how much is at stake this time around.

13. I think it is the "Daddy" response
Women will relate to leaders the way the relate to their fathers.

Maybe they think someone who is arrogant and rigid is more a protector if that is what they have experienced in a parent.

Personally, I like the thinkers and the ones that don't want to put their daughters on a leash.

15. Sounds like they're small minded, non-thinking, knee jerk
reactivists ... I wouldn't get too worried, there's a helping of ignoranimi like this just about everywhere.

They aren't, however, representative of intelligent and thoughtful American women as a whole.

17. Because I expect women to be smarter.
We have more to lose. The current administration is an affront to women. Are men getting paid less? Uh-uh. Is male reproductive health constantly up for grabs? I don't think so. Are men second rate citizens? What do you think? If I were a relatively wealthy straight white man with no conscience ... I might vote for my wallet too (I KNOW Bush* is not a true conservative, but old habits - or party loyalties - die hard). I can NOT, however, find any remote rationalization for any self respecting woman to vote for this admin but for perhaps beating the bible a little too loudly ... against her own head. Are you suggesting that I give my gender too much credit?
