I like the idea of Kerry doing 30 minute INFO-MERCIAL.
Remember Perot? He bought time, had charts and graphs. The audience was huge. Kerry should do this...at least one, ESPECIALLY if cry baby backs out of the next debates.

Should do it on the night before the election. Show in visual graphs the red lines and green lines how pathetic Bush has been. Could clearly explain how Bubble Boy is the only retard that ever flip-flopped.

Don't think it would be against the rules if sponsored from the Democrat campaign fund. He could lambaste Bush for a half hour just like Perot did it when he was so effective.

If she was permitted, Theresa could buy this like it was an ice cream cone. :nuke:

1. Are infomercials still effective?
They were much more effective back in 1992, but we live in an era with hundreds of channels on TV, and broadcast TV viewership at record lows. Everybody's watching cable and satellite now.

Though the effort of Kerry buying infomercial time would certainly be shown on the news channels.

2. Remember Dean did informercials?
I thought that those informercials were great. Kerry should do the same in swing states.

4. VERY effective
most of the infomercials you can name off the top of your head do in the high double digits to hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per year.

they're expensive to produce, and the air time costs for prime slots on prime channels is mind boggling. infomercials work through repetition. Likely Kerry could only do one "shot". Also very difficult to produce and air a 30 minute segment in one week - the media buy has to happen three weeks out for a 30 minute slot.

3. Anyone remember "Hubert Humphrey: What Manner of Man"?
I remember watching it (I was a huge Humphrey fan in sixth grade!). I was crying by the end of it, absolutely believing that no one who watched that show could POSSIBLY vote for Richard Nixon. *sigh*

Half-hour "infomercial" shown on national television close to the 1968 election.

http://www.richtervideos.com/d_hhh_what.html

"When this biography about Hubert Humphrey was telecast in the crucial 1968 campaign for President of the United States, it helped turn the tide -- but not quite enough to result in victory -- in what became the closest Presidential election up to that time in American history."

5. I've brought up this idea a couple of times here
It's the most effective way for Kerry to get out his message to the American People without it getting chopped to pieces by BushCo and the media. It also helps people become more comfortable with Kerry on a personal level.

Really, I'm surprised Kerry to date has not done this. Sure, 30 minute prime time infomercials are expensive but a candidate get's so much more "bang for the buck" compared to the canned 30 second sound bite ads that don't sway many people.

It worked terrifically for Ross Perot who got almost 20% of the vote in 1992 running in a independent party.

Doing infomercials could very well make the difference in this election.

6. One-Minute Case Against President Bush:
In the months following one of the gravest tragedies this nation has ever faced, President Bush capitalized on America’s support for him by passing some of the most vile right wing legislation seen in almost 50 years. He then stubbornly and blindly pursued a war with Iraq, utilizing intelligence that was then regarded as questionable at best. The Iraq war has now cost the lives of more than 1,000 American soldiers, and has diverted vital resources from the multinational effort to track down and kill Osama Bin Laden, the perpetrator of the September 11th attacks. The Iraq war has cost the taxpayers of American hundreds of billions of dollars, and has diverted attention away from the crippling economy and the tragic health care situation in the country. This President is the first President in a hundred years to actually lose American jobs at a time when 160,000 new jobs are required every month just to keep pace with the expanding work force.

I think Kerry should present something like this, which is short and pointed - which is apparently the only way Americans can understand something.

If anyone wants to make suggestions for this, please let me know
