David Hackworth: Are military censors trying to influence the GI vote?
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 11:40 PM by Yo_Mama_Been_Loggin
This is from the Soldiers for the Truth web page

My husband is stationed at Camp Anaconda, Iraq. He recently he remarked to me that the TV 's came back on in the mess, you see apparently the transmission stopped right before the Democratic National Convention and miraculously came back on for the Republican Convention. Technical problems can happen but this is a little to convenient, don't you think? now I know as well as the next person, that if these guys want information there going to get it, but I don't know, it just strikes me as fishy...UnAmerican, even. It's a fact that in Iraq (or the military for that matter) these guys have no choice when it comes to their fate. Whether it be pay, conditions, injury's, their family's, etc. The one thing they do have, however, is their voice. So now it seems to me, even that has been tampered with. Their power to make an informed choice as to who will be there future commander in chief has been obstructed by "technical difficulty's" its just embarrassing and quite frankly, fucked. Perhaps you have some thoughts on the matter. CONCERNED WIFE. Readers in Iraq. Please let us know if your rights are being tampered with because of politics. Write to me directly - Hack

1. Hackworth is great
I was really angry when he called Clark a "perfumed Napoleon" (or whatever it was) but then I read an article where Hackworth says he made that comment without ever meeting Wes Clark. Said he met him, did a long interview, and left with the impression that he has never been more wrong about a person. He lauded Clark for his brilliance and his courage. I was really impressed to see a person of Hackworth's conviction, admit his mistake. Of course, the Freepers liked to quote his statement anyway. Doesn't matter to me. Hackworth speaks his mind. I don't always agree, but I always respect.

2. It was...
"Perfumed Prince" that was one of the insults hurled at Clark, lol. Better than a "Stinky Monkey King", though.

I respect Hackworth as well, though he shouldn't have been repeating shit about someone he never met. But he's man enough to admit his mistake. I figured those two would get along. :)

The control of the media in Iraq isn't new, unfortunately. Fortunately, they can get online, as well. Although the Pentagon has suddenly noticed that soldiers have their own blogs and are getting busy censoring them, as well.

4. I knew it was something like that
I almost put "prince" but thought it was Napoleon for some reason. Thanks.

3. I love Hackworth!
A real man of courage...not just in war, but in telling the truth.

He has made many enemies for telling the truth, but all he cares about are the troops.
