Devious little CNN Punditurds... at it again!
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 09:12 AM by Flubadubya
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, it was so outrageous. Earlier this morning Jeff Greenfield was stringing his "pearls of wisdom for us" about how the democrats were hedging their bets by getting more voters registered.

He went on to describe the "new voters", however, in the most politically correct terms, of course, but here's the real translation: "The Dems are going out and getting low life, backwater hillbillies with third grade educations who have never voted before and who will only succeed in clogging up the voting process on election day because of their ignorance and stpidity (he used the word "confusion"). This was really brazen in and of itself, but then he did something rather curious.

He went on to describe how the polls may not be actually reflecting real statistics because only land lines are called and that so many people screen their calls... AND, of course, how pollsters do not call cell phones. We have known this for some time, but I wondered why I had not heard this before from a Punditurd. They don't talk about that.

Well, only about twenty minutes later did it all become clear. The new male anchor (first time on ?) commented that new polls out showed Kerry in a much better position now.

BAM!!! That's when it hit me, what Greenteeth's poll screed had all been about. As long as Bush is "apparently" in the lead, there is no need to inform the public that the polls may not be on the up &up, but let Kerry start making some real advances, and BOOM!... it's time to interject doubt upon the polling process.

Sheez.. could these guys be any more transparent? :puke: :argh:

3. I've got a news flash for Jeffy.
It's the backwater(?) hillbillies who're most likely to vote for our ersatz-cowboy king.

Obvioulsy Greenfield hasn't read "What's the Matter With Kansas" by Thomas Frank.

6. That new guy was on MSNBC for a little while and I though he was
definitely leaning to the right.

He is a Cuban American from Florida and he pissed me off quite frequently so be on guard.

Luckily, he wasn't around for long on MSNBC.

10. The New York Times had an excellent
article regarding voter registration. In a county-by-county survey in Ohio, democratic registraions increased by 250% and just 25% in Republican areas. These people have not been counted in any poll.

Addressing registration drives: "This largely hidden but deadly earnest battle is widely believed by campaign professionals and political scientists to be potentially decisive in the presidential election."

I personally know 2 people who voted for Bush in 2000 who are now strong Kerry supporters.

Also, I really believe the Republicans are underestimating college students and other young people who are strongly motivated to vote for Kerry because they truly believe conscription will be reinstated. Sean Insanity can scream all he wants to about "there are no documents to show that," but, as we know, he is wrong.

12. I saw that before - Rock the Vote is actively working
on this issue. They have a place to register complaints/problems with voter suppression on college campuses. I also read where 7 states have a law that says the first vote you place has to be in person and not by absentee ballot which could have a devastating effect on out-of-state college freshmen.

15. No stinkin' documents needed- just look at the evidence of rising need
Guard not meeting quotas, stop loss orders issued left and right. Bad morale among troops in Iraq.
It is logical to assume a draft will be needed if Bush keeps waging wars like Iraq.
And keep in mind Iraq is "understaffed".
