How we are telling canvassers and phoners how to talk to voters
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 05:57 PM by Dems Will Win
1. Iraq - Remember the War in Kosovo? Not a single American life lost in the war--or in the peace afterward. And the whole strife in the Balkans was engineered by Richard Holbrooke, who will undoubtedly be the next Secretary of State and will be put in charge of coming to a peace accord in Iraq and the winning of the peace.

2. Follow the Money - Bush will never follow the money and dry up the terrorist funding, because the same Saudi bankers he has to investigate used to be his business partners in Arbusto and Harken Energy. Harken borrowed $25 million from BCCI. John Kerry was the one who investigated BCCI and declared it to truly be the Bank of Crooks and Criminals. After fighting Bush 41 all the way, along with some powerful Democrats, Kerry finally had the bank closed in 1993 and Khaild bin Mahfouz, banker to the bin Laden family, was fined $225 million and forbidden from owning any US banking interest. George W. Bush will NEVER shut down al-Queda because he will NEVER follow the money. John Kerry already has. Osama bin Laden is probably not more than 100 miles from Tora Bora in Pakistan. Kerry will use Special Ops to capture him covertly. Bush has a deal with Mushareff not to enter Pakistan under any circumstances.

3. Jobs - Kerry has a Save America Jobs program in which the financial incentive for shipping jobs overseas is ended and a tax break is given to all companies that DON'T outsource. Right now if you make something in China and ship it here, you don't have to pay any income tax on your profit, that is "deferred" FROM YEAR TO YEAR. It ends up you never have to pay income tax for your Chinese profit! John Kerry will end TAX DEFERRAL. He also will give a 5% tax cut for 100% made in America companies, which includes nearly 100% of small businesses. Most important of all, Kerry will not roll over before the Europeans and the Chinese in the despicable way George Bush has in the last 4 years. Look at steel. Corporations and the wealthy will pay their fair share of the tax burden with Kerry. They'll get even bigger tac cuts under Bush--to be passed soon because they know they're going to lose. Kerry will roll them all back come hell or high water and give tax cuts to the middle class!

4.Healthcare - Paul Krugman estimated that Kerry's plan will cover 95% of adults and 99% of children, adding 27 million to the rolls of the insured. Bush, said Krugman, would add 1.6 million.

5. Education - $4,000 tuition credit, Kerry makes it so everyone can go to college who wants to can afford to, increasing Pell grants, helping state budgets so they can reduce tuition and many other steps. He will will fully fund education and eliminate the No Child Left Behind punitive measures that force schools to teach to the test.

6. The Draft - John Kerry has said there will be no draft when he is President. He has a $7 billion plan to strenghten the Volunteer Army, and he will bring in NATO and the UN to help in the reconstruction which will free the way to bring in foreign troops. Bush has dangled reconstruction in IRaq twice in front of the Europeans and Russians and then took it away twice! They won't do business with Bush anymore but they will with a new President.
Kerry abhors the draft from his Vietnam days and has a multi-point plan to avoid having to reinstate it.

1. Do you really spend that much time when canvassing?
My training (and experience) says do not spend much time, but instead:
1. Determine voting liklihood, 2. provide literature, and 3. move on, you have a lot of houses to do yet.

2. Normally no, but this year the voters want to talk your ear off

on all those issues. We know what they are now and go in prepared to lead the conversation to get it over with. At this point we have enough people and we are spending the time with the undecideds to cover all their questions. Once they get these 6 covered we seem to have them swayed.

Seniors are a little different, but its young women voters and the young in general we are targeting and swing precincts in Scranton

3. It is very polarized out there
Even with those who are on the "independent" lists. I have found very few who want to talk to be convinced either way. Of course, I am in Texas...
