Did anyone catch the exchange between David Gregory of

[Democrat 4 Ever]

NBC news and Bush yesterday in the Rose Garden press conference (Jon Stewart said last night - "Bush and Allawi had a press conference in the Rose Garden wearing rose colored glasses" - how appropriate - that is all I got to catch) with Allawi? There was a brief mention of it on Imus this morning with Jim Miklashevski. Mik complimented Gregory on his Rose Garden question and follow-up, Imus called Gregory a doofus for disrespecting the president.

Gregory is the one who ask Chirac a question in French at a press conference in Paris one time and BoyGeorge went ballistic for "showing" off in French. Bush totally ignored the fact that the French reporters were asking him questions in English (out of respect for a total moron, I suppose).

Anyway, does anyone know what happen? Is there a video clip available?

3. There was a clip of it on The Daily Show

Gregory asked Bush (and I'm paraphrasing here, not quoting) if he could see how the public might be confused by the difference in the picture he was painting of the current situation in Iraq and the actual situation. Bush replied with a curt, clipped "NO."

That's where the Daily Show clip ended...Stewart did one of his "bug-eyed" takes into the camera and laughed out loud.

5. I can't remember if I saw this clip on Countdown or on the Daily Show

but the chimp actually said, "You. . . from NBC." and David Gregory replied "Gregory, sir." You know damn well that * knew who the guy from NBC was--he's been covering him for 4 friggin' years now!

7. Bush has called on him as "Gregory" in the past and made jokes

Bush knows exactly who he is. He made some kind of joke in one press conference about taking him off the White House Christmas card list or something to that effect.

Gregory is smart enough to know what it takes to keep himself in the press corps, so he doesn't exactly chomp down and bite on the hand that's feeding him, but he DOES chew on it on occasion...

If Bush said "you...from NBC," it's a pretty clear sign that he blanked out for a minute. Must have been the "enthusiastic" response from the reporters in general to what he and Allawi were puttin' down.

4. Yes, I saw it & it was terrific!

Of all the WH TV correspondents, he is the toughest.

He is also very funny.

right off the bat by feigning that he did not know who Gregory was. Oh.. and did I miss Bushes coronation or something?

There was nothing disrespectful in Gregory's question. It's his job to ask tough questions. The other candy-asses in the press should follow his lead instead of worrying about staying on chimpy's cool list. The only one being disrespectful was _bush.
