Change your worldview - Turn off the TV - Mild Rant

For two days I have not watched television news.

And I must say, my worldview has improved 1000%.

I read the paper, come here, check out trusted news outlets, and have avoided places like MSRNC, CNN, ABC, NBC, and even CBS.

Face it folks; we know there is no liberal media, but what has happened is many young conservatives have entered the world of broadcast news and are stamping their twisted ideology on what we all see.

They have become producers, writers, reporters, and news executives.

Turn off the TV, Turn on to the truth, and send a clear message to corporate media.

WE DON'T NEED YOU, FUCK OFF AND DIE.

Thanks - I return the floor.

4. Shortwave is really cool....
I have listened to shortwave for years and love it. VOA (Voice of America) is sometimes annoying as are the hoards of evangelical broadcasts... but there are gems.

Also, I just dont watch mainstream media any more. I use the net for 99.997% of my information. I will admit to watching C-Span when someone is being covered that I wish to hear... but otherwise, I just dont watch.

Good luck with the shortwave I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I have....

9. For best results consider grounding your radio set
I do it thru the little antenna jack on my Grundig YB-400. Ground to the plugs ring, and a 30 foot length of light speaker wire attached to the tip of the jack.

Huge difference in reception! In a pinch you can use the center screw on the face of a duplex outlet as a ground but it might introduce noise from household appliances.

11. Where are the plug rings? I have a Grundig and reception is bad...bought
an antenna from radio shack and it didn't help. If I buy wire where do I hook it and what is the jack? Can you explain a little more...Thanks.

3. I haven't watch TV news for years.
I almost don't watch TV at all anymore. It's not the conservatism that was getting to me, it was the consumerism. "Buy things you don't need with money you don't have." Over and over.

Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 07:26 PM by Piperay
now (got sick of car chases and sharks )and this week I haven't watched any National TV news either and my mental attitude is 1000% better. :D

I use my TV for watching soaps (cause I'm a fan) and some night-time shows but NO 'news'.

8. Turned it off 20 years ago. Recently turned on to Worldlink TV
Now I watch the news again. That, and CBC (Canadian Broadcast news). I don't know what took all of you so long. I couldn't tolerate what was happening on the so-called news, immediately after the Fairness Doctrine was removed. But I must advise, Worldlink's nightly Mosaic news from the Middle East, is very much like reliving the news during the Vietnam era. In fact, it's worse. Although, they have started to taper back on the bloodshed. I highly recommend Worldlink (channel 375 on DirecTV).
