Suggestion for Kerry in the Debates (strategists pls read)
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 02:41 PM by deckerd
Several weeks ago someone compared Bush to the "Music Man".

"It's the Music Man approach. He promised us we would be
welcomed by no fewer than 76 trombones, at minimum, in Iraq."

-----------

I thought this was a really killer line and a really killer label with which to counteract the whole "flip flop" cliche, especially since Kerry and the Dems have NOT used it before. (A commentator said it.)

If Kerry brought it out in the debates, it would be truly Reaganesque.

Note, this thread is not about Kerry's chances in the debates.

I'm just trying to get this idea out there. Whaddaya think? Whom should we send this to?

Repeat after me:

George W. Bush is the Music Man.

2. Bush OUTSOURCED National Guard so US vulnerable to terrorism at home.
Bush has OUTSOURCED the National Guard - in the event of a terrorist attack on the homeland, perhaps a power grid attack or an attack during the elections, for example, the National Guard is stretched too thin.

So either (1) Bush is falling into Al Quaida trap - he has diverted our resources away from the US and we are more vulnerable to terrorism within the US than we ever were - because Bush has left us unprotected.

Or (2) the Bush admin is overblowing the threat of terrorism to Americans - using Orange Alerts to ratchet up fear for political purposes although the Bush people clearly don't take the threat of terrorism in the US seriously - or they wouldn't deplete National Guard resources at home.

4. Way too obscure for all but the music-theatre crowd
Baghdad Bush, ala Baghdad Bob, is much more current and will make sense to uncultured, mouth-brreathing freeper types.

5. You missed the point.
Anyone who goes on about "mouth-breathing types" is probably out of touch. More people have seen "the Music Man" than have even heard of "Baghdad Bob".

The description is accurate. George Bush IS the "Music Man". I am tired of pandering to the lowest common denominator, mythical base voter that Dems do all the time. It shows in the responses to this message. Die-hard Dems have ZERO imagination.

They are unwilling to shape a message, create a story, and let the average voter come to their own conclusions about what it means. They want Kerry to make statements that do not require the viewer to think and/or change his perception of the race. It's called "figuring it out on your own". Jesus Christ.
