hey psych majors and medical folks - is the chimp losing it?
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 02:28 PM by mimitabby
what do you think of the chimp's manner and coherence on this speech today? better than normal, worse than normal?
do you see signs of confabulation?
(I do in the few quotes i've read here, i cannot see the video)
do you think he's in any way as sharp as he was in those
debates he did several years ago that everyone keeps talking about?
I mean, when a brain cell is gone, it's really gone...

1. To apply a layperson's terms- I think Bush is "losing it."
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 02:25 PM by Redleg
He is bound for an emotional meltdown as things get worse and worse. It must require high levels of emotional resources and emotional labor for Bush to act the cheerleader when things are going to hell in a handbasket. Of course, perhaps Bush does not allow reality to intrude in his life.

3. I keep wondering
if they have a cheer and a pep talk before he goes out, you know, in a huddle. Then as he walks out they all stand in line and slap him on the rear as he walks through cheering madly to boost that fragile state he seems to be in these days. I mean, it must be hard when dealing with a fragile dumbass.

That takes a lot of psychic energy, too.

I've watched members of my family do that. Coping with it involved a lot of alcohol and cigarettes and blame.

10. Good point- of course Bush uses people to filter reality for him.
Requires less emotional labor on his part and more on theirs. Why spend your own resources when you can spend another's? Isn't that the Bush modus operandi?

2. I saw a lady talking about this concerning another liar in the news and
she pointed out things that reminded me of *. Everytime he looks away the smirking at inappropriate times. he has many signs of lying and sociophathic tendencies.

4. I have wondered for some time
if he is still drinking, perhaps on the side, unbeknownst to most but known to a select few in his circle. His cheeks are more sullen, his eyes look more vague. Bush is a guy who likes to sleep until noon and he's not getting a lot of sleep lately.

My mom, who is very intuitive, has said from day 1 that he may be drinking and never really quit, even when he found Jesus.

5. What little I saw
Shows that he's been on a tighter leash for the past few weeks. His pronunciation has markedly improved from two months ago. However, he's still dysarthric and he still is obviously confabulating. That stuff is not likely to improve, even with enforced sobriety and megadoses of thiamine.

7. look up the term 'word salad'...
...in psychiatry. It's a term used to describe a certain kind of speech pattern seen in some schizophrenics. It consists of a flow of ideas, that are connected to one another only in the mind of the patient.

8. He's still having language problems, though they've somewhat improved
since he made the "Barry White" mistake. He's got all sorts of language dysfunction, however, ( I can't listen to him enough to diagnose); coordination and gait dysfunction, and I think I've seen some palsy.

Losing it? who knows... but neurologically impaired? I'd bet you a burrito he is.
