some sleuths need to debunk this new docu-gate research
Freepers are off on a new tack, having discovered a way to read the hidden info on the pdfs of the six documents.

This is way over my head. I'm hoping some DU sleuths who have been following docu-gate will review this research.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1218191/posts

Here's the guy's first musing:

There may be evidence already out on the net regarding the forgery memo perpetrator that needs to be assessed before people start removing it.

1.

Download the USA Today's http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-09-09bushdocs.pdf There are SIX, not four memos

Then look at the first pdf, see the name Bath?

If you open up a pdf in Notepad and look toward the bottom, it tells you the day and time when the document was created and the version of Acrobat. Neat huh! Considering Adobe's paranoia about counterfeited programs and registration for upgrades, might also say something about the user or serial number?

This tells you when the CBS Memo forgeries were created to a pdf and perhaps something about who did it. Clearly that person had in his custody at that time a forged military document, or at least the scan of one.

Then go here: http://wizbangblog.com/archives/003652.php and read ALL the links.

Then ask yourself: Who knew about bath? ...who tried forging some docs before?

I think Burkett is a patsy, stupid cutout. Anyone stupid enough to FAX documents from a Kinko's from where they have an account is too stupid to have gotten the timeline and contents right.

Particularly look at the timeline comments on the wizbang site and its links, particularly the one named "chronological".

2.

Some of the people involved in the CBS Memos' forgery aren't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

The following might be interesting:

Go to the CBS, USAToday, DNC, Kerry, the applicable Anti-Bush 527's, etc. and pull down and save their pdf's in separate folders. Put entries into a spreadsheet of when each forged Bush document was converted. This will tell who're using who's pdfs and who did their own conversion. For example what were the scan times at the DNC, Kerry, anti-Bush 527's. The odds of identical conversion times is astronomical. If not from CBS's or USAToday's time, they probably had had their own version of a FAX at the scan date-time! Also, if this is technically possible: pull down any html headings that tell the times of the hosting entry of that pdf's, jpgs/tifs,etc. of CBS Memos were posted and put into same spreadsheet.

Remarks:

HEY FBI and the other alphabet soups ( AKA Carnivore): Forging of a Military Document is a crime isn't it? Do we have to do your job? …have to tell you how to do it?

HEY CBS, USAToday, Coldfeet: Too late, I've got yours.

HEY Adobe or Adobe mole: Does Acrobat have a serial number or user identity buried in your pdf outputs? …if so who "scanned" the TANG Memo forgeries?

Have fun someone! Needs to be done NOW before they replace any clues with the CBS pdfs.

And won't read beyond the first few paragraphs. But it seems likely that CBS created the PDF. Thus, the date, time, "serial number", forensic evidence (fingerprints, semen stains, DNA traces), processor, keyboard, furniture, carpet color, room deodorizer, hairstyle, sexual orientation, ailments, food temperature et al. ain't worth shit.

But it is fun to watch freakers play detective!

BTW. Hi grasswire!

4. They don't know what they're talking about
CBS and/or USA Today created the PDFs.

The PDF specification is available on Adobe's website if they'd like to read about the format.

5. Useless.
Re-saving the PDF off the web will give you a brand new creation date. Downloading it from a link will preserve the original creation date.

In short, you don't need to worry about anything they might find this way, but by all means let them keep wasting their time.

Again, they are grasping at straws now that all their other objections to the documents have fallen through: superscripting, dad's address, formatting, etc.
