Right wing election attacks
The right wingnuts have no leg to stand on when it comes to their stupid ignorant troglodyte nominee. Since the very beginning, the right has waged a negative and nasty campaign, with absolutely nothing positive to say. Unlike John Kerry, who has attempted to handle issues, has tried to keep the negativity to a bare minimum and has turned the other cheek enough to keep himself from drowning in the mire of the shit the reoukes have put out.

The present regime has nothing good to campaign about, because they have done nothing--not a fucking thing--over the past four years to deserve any reputation of doing anything good. So they HAVE to campaign negatively. And as we all know, some people react to the nasty campaign because it fuels the nastiness they harbor inside--people who think they're good people, but who really aren't--people who justify any nastiness they do in the name of either their religion or their general set of beliefs.

The truth is, this country is going to go down the tubes very soon, and even sooner if the right wing wins this election. Fact is, the right wingnuts will begin to justify turning the country into their own private little world, exclusive of anyone who thinks, talks, sees, hears, works or dreams differently. The entire country will feed off those who are in dire circumstances, as these people lose any and everything they have. The gap between poor and rich will widen into a chasm that no one will be ever able to bridge, and the fake religiosity will give way to purges of "undesirables" in the name of "christianity."

This country was founded on a secular basis--that religion was one of the things people had a right to practice as they so desired. It was not, and never has been a cornerstone of the United States of America. This country was also founded on the belief that everyone had a chance to try and make something of themselves, regardless of their station in life. There was a hand-up to those who needed it, and no one was considered so much better than any other on any individual basis.

But that has changed now. Now the religious right and the extremists on the right are turning this country into something horrible--a place where those in the lower classes must struggle to survive, that if people are different in any way--gay, pagans, foreigners, Moslems, whatever--that suddenly they are suspect and need to be made into pariahs. If you're not rich, you're poor, and if you're poor, there is no way for you to get into a good college, study and graduate with a chance to make it in the world; if you're poor, you will be working for the "massa" your entire life, with the same rank and privileges as a slave in the 19th century; if you're poor, you don't deserve medical care or assistance, and you certainly don't deserve the consideration of others.

How is it that the country has gone so far astray in this time, this day, without any kind of notice from those who are in this situation? Because, we are being destroyed subtlely, with guilde and wile, while the rich men laugh and gain more power.

It's truly sad that this is the general attitude for some of the people in the country. NO ONE of us is any better than any one else. We're all the same--as human beings each and every one of us has a life, emotions, thoughts, dreams and desires. And while some think they are either morally or financially superior to the others, it's that same kind of attitude that led to Hitler taking over Germany, and it's the same kind of attitude which is promoting the fascism I see in the right wingnuts now. But unless the right wing is willing to be honest about it, there will be no change and there will be no chance for the rest of us to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and try to make something of ourselves. Instead, we should simply be glad we're not heading for the "de-licing" stations any time soon.

2. Wait a second

Let's be honest, both parties have been guilty of insults and negative attacks, think back to the primaries, our candidates were attacking each other, and Bush. It's an election year, this happens in EVERY election year by both sides.

What makes you think the entire country is going down the tubes? You have a defeated attitude, what's up? You see no hope? Why?
Explain how the ENTIRE country will feed off those who are in dire circumstances. By stating the ENTIRE country, you are including all of us here, including yourself, so......???

I have read it over and over here, and I am a bit lost on the whole Christianity being forced down our throats, or being implemented as a strict way of life. I don't see it with the exception of the partial birth abortion issue which was overthrown anyway. What I do see is anything having to do with god, the bible, the ten commandments being removed from public places, you make it sound like the reverse is happening.

You honestly believe you have no chance to make your life what you want it to be? What stops you from working hard, furthering your education (don't tell me money, there are grants loans etc I know, I did it) starting your own business employing the less fortunate...what stops you?

Being poor is not stopping anyone from going to college, not if you truly want to go, I did it!! If you remember right, President Clinton is a very good example of this! He came from a poor background, single mother etc, but had the drive and ambition to become something. He is not the only one mind you. Look to our party for other stories just like his. Hate him if you will but Bill Gates came from very modest beginnings. I disagree with his tactics, but look at him now...look how many people are employed by the company he started.

Honestly now, the truly poor people in my state receive excellent health care. The benefits they have on Medicaid is far better than I have on my health insurance policy, without a deductible. The ones effected by the health insurance crisis are those above poverty level, middle class that do not have insurance through their employers.

Let me ask you, if you think the poor do not deserve consideration in the country as it sits, who on earth is supporting the charities that lend a hand? The money has got to be coming from people that have a little extra to give. Don't be fooled, there are plenty of people that truly care about the survival of all people.

As for you fascism remarks, I know that is a popular statement here. But, do you HONESTLY in your heart believe that the people in this country would allow fascism to take hold? Come on, you know it won't happen, to say it would is insulting to those of us that WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN!

3. Defining Fascism
A few weeks ago, while bemoaning the fact that the Right has redefined our language so that the word "liberal" has come to be a label of denigration, I kept wondering what word the Left might use in a similar manner to describe the Right.

"Fascism" kept popping into my head, but it seemed too extreme a word. I realized that, except for my association with Nazi Germany, I didn't really know it's definition. I finally looked it up and I was shocked at how much of the definition applies to the ideology and tactics of the Right. Here's the Webster definition:

"fascism (fash’izm) n. a system of government characterized by a rigid dictatorship, forcible suppresion of the opposition (unions, other, especially leftist, parties, minority groups, etc.), the retention of private ownership of the means of production under centralized governmental control, belligerent nationalism and racism, glorification of war."

re: But, do you HONESTLY in your heart believe that the people in this country would allow fascism to take hold? Come on, you know it won't happen, to say it would is insulting to those of us that WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN!:
The notion that it can't happen here has been repeated over and over again throughout history. I believe we're headed in that direction, or least the party in power is. How many CBS affiliates did not run 60 minutes last night? How far is that from government control of the media? It's certainly censorship. And imagine how much worse things will get if these people have another four years.

I believe the people in this country will tolerate just about anything under the right circumstances. And, I believe the wheels are in motion. It sounds extreme, maybe even paranoid, but I would never doubt it as a real possibility.

4. Well aware of the definition
Trust me, I have studied this extensively, beyond the dictionary.

I have kids to run off to sports. I will do my best to return tonight and discuss this further, I think it is an important topic.
