A big speech by Kerry, and NOBODY'S carrying it???
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 03:03 PM by RatTerrier
MSNBC and FOX carried the first few minutes.

CNN was showing tropical storms and pundits, jumped in late (after showing remotes all morning) and then had satellite problems.

C-SPAN isn't carrying it on ANY of their three stations.

Meanwhile, I believe they all carried Bush's speech to the same group.

Well, I'm sure Kerry's sorry for not slamming Bush's Guard service in front of this group, but some things are a little more important than some red meat controversy.

Why don't they all just come out and tell people to vote for Bush? This is total horseshit!

1. If they carry it, they can't keep saying

that Kerry has no plan, etc. Now doesn't that make sense?

Oh, I'm sorry, gotta cut away to a bunch of pundits. One from the left and one from the right, of course.

I expected this from the big three, but C-SPAN??? I'm very disappointed.

10. He's slamming Bush on Iraq's bumblings...
Kerry said he'll add 40,000 new soldiers to the Armed Forces to be strong against Iran and North Korea. Double the special forces size to fight the war on terror.

The audience does suck, golf claps. What is UP with the military and Bush? Bush sends them off to die recklessly and they love him.

18. Id say the applause was polite
Now someone may correct me here, but from what I could tell from the NANOSECOND on MSRNC coverage I could only hear polite applause, but maybe it was in the background.

It's pathetic. Chimp shirks duty, lies about war, gets kids killed for nothing and they love him. All I can think is these are ALL war mongering fools, and they are only in uniform because they all love war, whatever reason given, who gives a shit? It's a war! And they resent Kerry because of what he said when he returned from Nam.

They might be disgruntled about all the bad publicity lately. Surely they must realize that Guard duty then doesn't resemble today's Guard duty in any way?

12. Let's face it
The media has unofficially written off JFK. Some of the cable "pundits" are actually hostile to him. Why would they cover this important speech when they can show some mobile home floating down a river or more of Laci Peterson. The only way we can correct this is to send a lasting message on nov 2nd.

16. How is ANYONE expected to make
an informed decision if they can't hear what the guy has to say other than sound bites? I also am repulsed by the news media. Would be nice to go somewhere that will give both complete sides w/no spin. If there were, I feel sure the more people saw the smirking chimp the more votes Kerry would get.

20. they've decided Kerry can't win
so they've discontinued coverage of his campaign, like they did with Kucinich.

This way, they can save their resources for the only candidate who has a realistic chance of winning, Bush.

27. Hogwash! They know Kerry will win in a landslide.

Despite corporate dicta, they DO watch the polls, and nobody knows better than they how the polls are skewed. If the polls say the candidates are about even, they know darned well that Kerry is leading by a mile.

Their only "resources" come from Richard Mellon Scaife.

Bush* has absolutely no chance of winning whatsoever, if he permits the election to go forward. Gore got more votes than the chimp in 2000, and every one of those votes is going to Kerry. Nader got a lot of votes in 2000, and almost all those votes are going to Kerry this time. In addition there are all the people who registered to vote after seeing F9/11 or being contacted by the Kerry campaign. Then there are the people who voted for the chimp and have since lost their jobs, their savings, their children to a war based on lies, and have watched the deficit and their health care costs rise. Nobody can call themselves a fiscal conservative and vote for the chimp. Gore got more votes than the chimp, and Kerry will get a lot more votes than Gore did. Besides which, everyone is still so pissed off about Florida 2000, that there are organized poll watching groups, complete with movie cameras, attorneys, and a nation-wide toll-free hotline, all over the country and particularly in Florida.

There is only one viable candidate this time, and his name is John Kerry. Even the corporate media knows it--that's why they're afraid to cover the campaign--where have you been?

I'm sending some later when I have more time. I didn't include FOX, since I expect them to not give a shit. I was surprised they showed as much as they did.

Probably checking to see if Kerry slams Bush's guard service. I hate the fucking mainstream media!!!

25. Pure, unadulterated RW media bias. They even ignore their own
rules of thumb!

Here we are in the midst of a week of controversy about the National Guard, courtesy of 60 Minutes. The media gives 24/7 coverage to the "issue" of forgery. At the same time this controversy rages, both presidential candidates show up at the NG Annual Conference to speak. One would think that the media would want to add an angle to their memo story by showing what Kerry had to say to the conference. But, no. They show a brief clip, suddenly lose their satellite link-up...and then promise to show "highlights" later (highlights will, of course, conform to and be edited to show Kerry in the worst possible light).

C-Span is busy showing yesterday's Senate hearings and re-runs of this AM's call in shows. I wanted to see Kerry's speech, but the networks have their agenda. As I happen to live in Vegas, I did catch the speech on our local NBC station (Ch 3), and it was a good one, well deserving of wide, live broadcast. But no, the media ignores or slights the speech because...well, because it's Kerry, that's why.

Yet, bush shows up at a staged photo op to sweat and fart his way through another pack of canned lies and it's 24/7 live coverage of Der kleine Leutnant!

I watched it on the rerun, and they are playing it yet again later tonight. They did the Bush one and the Kerry one back to back.

I heard they ran his economic speech several times also.

29. The networks would be doing a favor if they'd fire all their pundits.
I'm sick of tuning in for news and instead getting opinion. Maybe if the networks would stop spoonfeeding people, they'd start reaching opinions on their own.

I don't give a damn what Bill Schneider thinks about the impact of Hurricane Ivan on the election. And I don't need some idiot telling me how I should feel about the issues.

We don't have news networks these days. Instead, we have opinion networks and infotainment networks.
